Ariston gas boiler not starting

Hi folks, the house is a bit chilly this morning so I thought I'd turn on the heat, but it wouldn't come on. I checked the boiler (Ariston Microsystem 15 RFFI) and the pressure is at zero. The lights on the boiler come on when I switch it on, my gas cooker is igniting and I don't appear to have any leaks. Is there anything simple I can check or do before I call an RGII?

The boiler has a low pressure switch(unless it been cut out) this would require 1bar of pressure in your heating system to allow the boiler to fire. If you have a filling point connected to a mains pipe then you will have to open a valve to refill your heating system to 1 bar, if the system is fed from a tank in the loft then the low pressure safety switch has been linked out.

The only things you can do today is fill the system if needed, press the reset button or manually open any zone valves(incase your external controls are playing up), Gary.

Low pressure safety switch linked out would be a boiler shut down in my book, a safety device rendered inoperable!

Thanks guys. We'll have someone to look at it by Tuesday at the latest, luckily the weather isn't (too) cold and we have the immersion for hot water. Hopefully it won't cost the earth to fix, thanks again!
