Is there a Comp Science degree that outshines the rest in & around Greater Dublin?

I have applied for Computer *Science in TCD, UCD, DCU (*Applications), NUIM, and DIT.

Aware that nobody has a crystal ball here, I am wondering if anyone especially but not restricted to recruiters would be able to offer an opinion on which course is currently and speculatively in the future offering the best job prospects?

Perhaps there is so much work out there in programming it does not make much of a difference?

I am Googling trying to understand the difference between software development and software engineering.

NCI have some great computer degrees. Software systems is a very good one there.

Don't do computer science if you don't have a genuine interest in it... the industry is full of miserable people who wished they had studied something else.

I've worked in the industry for 15 years.

Regarding your question, TCD has great name recognition, even abroad.

Def pick a course that you will like , as well as one you think that will give you a job.
I'm still regretting not doing a economics degree years ago.

DCU has a good "rep" in IT too.

why would a recruiter know? Most of them have no background in the area they are recruiting and are basically sales people.

A lot of large companies such as google/MS/Yahoo/PayPay either hire directly or use a specific recruiter and they what they really want to know is your grade and knowledge/love of computers.

Pick a course you like not something you think will get you a job.

Don't stress out too much over it, this choice does not matter as much as you think it does. Employers are far more interested in your aptitude and grades than the specific institution you went to. If you get a good honours degree from any of the places you mentioned you will be well placed.

You don't even need a CS degree as such, lots of people have gone from a numerate degree like maths/physics/engineering into software.

My comp sci degree is from trinity, and yes, it is great at getting you in the door, even abroad.
However, a lot of the stuff i done there has absolutely no value to me now whatsoever. My first job, I basically had to learn from scratch & would mainly be using my skills and knowledge learned after I left trinity. Trinity was a lot of theory across a broad range, and not really specifying in anything.
