It doesnt have to be Hornady. i cant always get Hornady 17g at my local rfd but he usually has Federal. As long as the bullet is the same weight and has the same velocity you wont have to re-zero. I have tried the 20g and it still messes up the meat if you dont get a head shot, there is a bit more penetration before it expands so theyd be great fox foxes. I would stick with the v-max for bunnys though !

Don't know if its just the batch of Federal's I got but the amount of split casings I am getting is bordering on the ridiculous. And I like the Federal but the fact the casing has to be removed manually is frankly pissing me off to no end.Stick with the Hornandy 17 Grain V Max if you can get them,& when you get them buy in bulk.

i thought they were produced in the same factory , only difference between the hornady and federal was the plastic cap colour

Hornady V-max is very good, good groupings. Tried a few boxes of Winchester when the RFD was out of Hornady, not much in it but if both were available I'd take the Winchester now. Slightly more accurate/tighter groups.
Don't like the Remingtons at all, don't like any of their rimfire ammo

Mine prefers Federal or Remington equally. Less accurate with Hornady and puts the Hornady on a different spot on the target (right and a bit high). Definitely a difference between brands and you have to see what your gun likes.

My local firearms dealer in Bradford, not far from Kanturk or Newmarket has hornady 17grain for 16euro a box. It's about an hour spin from ballincollig. If you shoot clays aswel with a shotgun there is a range there too.

If this is too far try cork angling and outdoor at kinsale road roundabout.

Dont know what kind of rabbits you have in your area but i got very little meat damage and always an exit with the 20gr! meat damage would be normal brusing around the entry and exit hole and if it was a chest shot the heart and lungs would be mush for the most part nothing like the equivelent to a bunny landmine th vmax does! them 17gr are really for vermin control where your not going to eat what your shooting imo because the do way too much damage if you dont make a head shot.

Agree about the penetration and they are the best choice for foxes if using the hmr.

Before i sold mine i was using the 20gr for everything because i found them a better bullet all roung
