    Can someone who goes to Toastmasters tell me what the format of the meeting is? Do you go with a prepared presentation and present to the group, getting feedback etc. Or is it more ad hoc than this?

    I'm interested in joining a group but want to get an idea first of what it is like.

    A bit of both - you prepare a speech and deliver it to a group of people - 20-30 usually in my club and then you get feedback from an evaluator

    As well as that you can be asked to give a 1 minute off the cuff speech on something random

    Best thing to do is go to a meeting and see what it's like - most clubs are very welcoming and there is no obligation to join

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    I got my set at LockPickShop.com. Shouldn't have any problems going through customs but shipping can get steep (I've never come across an Irish seller).


    I'd suggest picking up 12-15 piece set to get a feel of the different picks, although a smaller set will do fine if you're on a budget. And get a cut-away lock if you can (great for visualising when you're just starting).


    If you've access to a grinder or dremel tool you can make your own as well with hacksaw blades. You can find templates online.


    Also, don't ever carry them on your person or in your car. They are considered burglary tools unless you have a valid reason for carrying them. Hobbyist isn't a valid reason.

    Golf.

    Doesn't have to be expensive either.
    A driving range will do.

    Batin' a bucket of balls a few times a week is great for stress relief.

    Hiking and walking, I use to do this years ago but the guy I use to hike with got married and that put a stop to that. I still do my Dollymount walks and i think it is beautiful down there, but lately the hills are calling me.

    Last night I a seen Martin Sheen's film "The Way" it is a great film, the story is based around the Campo de Santiago an 800 km pilgrimage in southern France and Northern Spain, I just simply have to do that hike, its my new ambition, but I need about 2 months off.

    But I will do this, sometime.

    Did this when I was young, really interesting, making picks, testing different materials to use, found the metal bindings offen used on transport pallets the best. Recently I made a key for a friends bike, used the plastic from a CD case to make a template, then filed down an old key.

    Other ideas.
    -Computer gaming. (LA Noire is like being in a movie)
    -do a few thosand piece jigsaw and frame it.
    -Astronomy, many Universities/clubs give public talks
    -DIY
    -Chess
