In NI, I'd say rent some land with forest, old buildings and fields, Put a few trenches in with a JCB. For a Beach, now that would be hard, but if you could rent a private beech it'd be cool.
Why NI, because for cool WW2 re-enactment you want PIE-ro

if you really wanted to use a beach you could use a lake instead?

abit of both i think it would be less complicated in northen Ireland, and most definatly if you could get pyro involved it would be good fun

You need to think about it in terms of gameplay and an set of rules as well.

Whatever is organised has to engage people for at least a day, has to be "win-able" by each side (even if it is hard) and has to be fun (who wants to get shot and have to respawn dozens of times trying to take the one well defended pillbox?).

This stuff is the difference between a cool idea, and a game people talk about for months afterwards (vs. one where they leave in frustration after an hour or so).

No. 100 players has happened maybe twice. There just isn't the demand.

i can see wht you are saying, there is so many things you will have to tae into account as-well though. for instance elements ie we can not do this near a sea due to the BIG BIT OF WATER cause last time i checked water and airsoft guns dont go well, SAND no body will want sand in their guns, cause silicon oil, plus sand makes s**T that you dot watn in your gun, MARSHELLS how many would you need, were would you find them if thats the case. also them main pint is LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. we cant just find a field and go write lets do it there, i dont think the good old PDF will like it there is about 200 od guys running about in full combat gear, with vehicles and replica firearms. so ye that is just many of the complications in making this sort of airsoft battle. WOULD BE EPIC THOUGH IF WE GOT IT RIGHT!!! :):D

    1. If it's reenactment you're looking for rather than a game of airsoft you're in the wrong place
    2. As has already been said there simply aren't enough airsofters out there with an interest in WW2 to make this happen. Red Barn are already running WW2-themed events and while they are very well run and well supported I'd say a good turnout is ~100 as it's still a niche area in airsoft
    3. I'm not aware of any site that has any beachfront as part of the site so that's definitely not an option. Even if you had access to some beach, even on a lake rather than seaside, there will still be public areas on either side so I'm guessing that would come under having a RIF in public legislation never mind the public liability/health & safety implications

The beach thing isn't really the problem, running it as a game is. Whether you use a lake or a sea beach you have the problem of getting attackers to the game from a water start (got a fleet of landing craft handy, how do people respawn, etc). Even if you simulate a beach (attack across a field springs to mind) its a piss poor game. One side defends a long static line, and the other attacks it.

Either the defenders hold off the attackers for ages making it boring and frustrating, or the attackers break through and roll up the defences, ending things before lunch time (On Omaha beach in 1944 troops were pushing inland about 2 hours after the initial assaults) which is a piss poor game again for the several hundred you are looking to attend.

And this ignores the overhead of building all those bunkers, trenches, and other fortifications you want to make this atmospheric. It's just not workable.

You could incorporate some sort of simulated beach landing as part of a larger game, or just as a standalone skirmish. But you are essentially talking about a load of people assaulting some static defences.
