Okay I've just done Irish Paper 1 with the Right Barcode. Easiest exam I've done so far! Chuffed! :p

    Comprehension
One on Justin Bieber and one on Lionel Messi. Justin Bieber was simple, Lionel Messi was a little more difficult but fairly easy

    Grammar
changing five verbs into the future tense

    Lion Na Bearnai
One thing you need to know is how to write the number 368. I'm awwwwwful with numbers!

    Sceal
I don't bother with the Aiste, or any of the other options, always go with Part B the sceal. It was begin your story with "When I reached the door I was shaking with nerves" OR write about an event that happened while you were on holiday in Ireland

Right Maths Paper 2 and French on Monday! Any tips??

okay just finished irish paper 1 LEFT barcode, annd guess what, it EXISTS!!

listening was insanely difficult, comprehension was hard enough, grammar was easy, and so was the sceal/eachtra

    GRAMMAR
    present tense to future
    SCEAL/EACHTRA
walking in the woods and something happened (use timpiste)

oh and sorry to the mods about earlier, didnt really consider it a spoiler,as it was just speculation on my part, & i wasnt really thinking at 7am lol ;)

anyway it wont happen again :)

i also did religion left barcode, easy enough, so no need to worry bout it ;)

Yeh I really need help in English maths and geography if u can. Especially in English if u cud go into detail

Okay, so... These are all left barcode (DEB) exam papers now...

    English Paper 1:
Comprehension on Summerhill School, was grand. It's about the principal of a school who believes "the school should fit the children", and the questions are like "Do you think the author likes his work?" "Would you like to attend this school?" "What arguments does the author present to suggest the system of teaching in Summerhill is effective?" (There's one more, but I can't remember, also I changed the wording but yeah they're easy).
The essays, all I remember is "My School Experiences", that's what I did.
Functional writing was writing something about the Olympics I think, and the other was definitely "A favourite teacher of yours is retiring at the end of term. Write an article for your school newspaper explaining what he/she meant to you".
Advertising was questions on an ad for an Egyptian exhibition OR writing about social media, like "do you think social media should be regulated?"
    Overall an easy paper!
    :pac:

    English Paper 2:
Unseen drama was hard, "The Three Sisters", 2 of the questions were "What sort of life did the Prozorova family lead? Explain your answer with reference to the text" and "What is the relationship between Masha & Irina"?
Seen drama questions were about "difficulties in the play you have studied, and do you like how the playwright handled these difficulties?" or "Favourite character/why and how did this character affect the others?"
Unseen Poem was called "The Young Dead Soldiers" by someone called Archibald... 2 of the questions were "According to the author, what are the young dead soldiers saying?" and "Discuss your thoughts/feelings as you read this poem".
Seen poetry questions were "Poem that moved you/why and what aspects of the poem helped the poet to create this effect?" - I did a war poem for that. Other question was about a poem that captures the imagination...
Unseen fiction was extract from "The 39 Steps" by John Buchan. 2 of the questions were "What sort of person is the narrator, Richard Hannay?" and "Describe why this extract would make a good scene in a film".
Seen Fiction was "character that faced a crisis - describe how crisis happened, how did this affect this character & also one other character?" or a question about the start of the novel (how the author set the story etc)
Quite a hard paper but okay I guess...

Yeh I really need help in English maths and geography if u can. Especially in English if u cud go into detail

    Okay, geography
short Q's were easy - know ocean currents (Labrador, Canaries & North-Atlantic Drift).
    I did Q1,2 & 5 for long questions so...
Q1 was on like volcanoes, (one positive+negative effect that you have studied, be able to define "layers" "cloud of material (it's like ash, boiling mud lava that comes out in the eruption) & "magma chamber") how fold mountains form + diagram, one more thing I can't remember but was easy as it was the first part to the Q...
Q2 was on fish (why are there less fish now in irish waters, 2 reasons) and farming (name a farm you have studied, and know all the inputs, processes and outputs) and a tourism question on Mediterranean (why is it so popular with tourists, 2 reasons and one negative effect tourism has on area)
Q5 is maps, sketch map of ordnance survey map of Cobh in Cork, and why is Cobh popular with tourists 3 reasons)
Q4 I think was all about Aid types, and Q3 on population, but I can't be sure.
    Really easy paper though! :)

As for Maths Paper 1 - percentage profit, ratio, percentages, rounding to nearest whole number and then evaluating, income and tax, factors, speed/distance/time, compound interest, venn diagrams, "express x in terms of...", simultaneous equations, adding fractions with x, "list elements in the solution set of *number* > x - 5 < *number*, factorising [diff 2 squares, grouping], area, long division in algebra, subbing in, those ones where you divide surds by other surds, functions, draw a graph [both curved and straight line], "use your graph to find to maximum value of x" etc.
Wasn't that bad, think I got an A, but I'm screwed for Paper 2!

You did that unseen drama on paper two? I did the shakesperian one. It was in old English so it was harder to understand so the questions were easier and after studying Romeo and Juliet it was easy enough to understand.

Yeah, our teacher told us to do the non-shakespearian one, so I just did that... it was quite hard though :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 293 ✭✭0000879k

yeah could you give some hints please? and what barcode are you? :)
    Top left barcode,
Studied fiction = Describe the opening scenes of the play.(very easy)
describe how the author captured the imagery
Unseen fiction. - Piss easy, It was a question saying ''write this extract through the narrators eyes and describe his feelings throughout.
Would this extract make a good scene for a film? Kinda tricky, needs thought.
Studied drama - a character you admired + why
How this character impacted the play, (i did benvolio from R+J)
Unseen drama - Although it may look very hard, do the shakesperian one!It may be hard to understand at first, but the questions are way easier than the modern-style drama as it's harder to understand the language.

I just studied the night before and found it very easy. Also you get 2 1/2 hours so take your time!!!

0000879k this isn't the first time you've refused to use spoiler tags. Once more and it's a ban.

A LOT of help in geo like on short qs pleasee :)

Well I can hardly remember the short Q's now but I'll try...
Know the ocean currents, know mass movement (like which is fastest), know what scree is, locations of things in aerial photograph, be able to locate grid references, finishing the graph, know where the Pacific Ring of Fire and Mid-Atlantic Ridge are... Like it was all really easy, just like past exam short Q's, I barely studied just read over stuff the night before and it was totally grand! Lots of circling the correct option and putting the right number with the right letter...
    :pac:

I did CSPE today. Top left barcode :)
(Q.1) Matching the names: You need to know who's Minister for Finance, Social Protection, Education & Skills and for Children & Youth Affairs. Need to know what they look like too.
(Q.2) Know the charity that help homeless people, can't remember the rest but something about this declaration that the UN passed in 1948 december 10th.
(Q.3) Know where the headquarters are for the United Nations (it's not in europe btw, i thought that...) I really can't remember... something about how many MP's? Oh ya, and where the president lives lol
Question 4 & 5 are easy. I really think the CSPE test is a waste of time tbqfh.

Can someone tell me what comes up for french & business p1 & 2 (All H.L) Top left barcode. :)
