bought curry chips for my break in the canteen.

    Damn now I'm hungry.

Some sweets in the petrol station down the road (past a few fields)
I think it was snowing, I remember looking at all the little ridges on the sides of the coins, I never really questioned why we had a new currency.

All they said to us in school is there are these nice people called the EU and we're all going off with them with everyone else to have a nice picnic sure not having the euro would be like turning up to school without any Pokemon cards and that just wouldn't be acceptable now would it.. (I obviously wasn't listening)

I filled up my Hiace for €30, if I remember my first € purchase correctly.

I remember it well, hungover in work and i had to deal with the conversions. Any customer who came in had to go to reception to change their punts to euro, reception would give me wads of punts every so often and i would give them euro. I was absolutely dying and in the end stopped counting and just fired out the money, my float was about €800 wrong at the end of the day:p

I got a €2 coin in my change this morning which commemorates 10 years of the Euro being in use.

It got me thinking about what was the first thing I bought with Euro.

My first euro purchase was a coffee and a glass of wine in Walter's of Dun Laoghaire. Not very exciting, I know...

Can anyone else remember what they bought?

I don't remember my first euro purchase, it was probably something small though- using the €6.35 worth of coins you could buy in the "starter pack" before the change over.

The first time I got a note back in change was when I bought a Maccy D's on 2nd January. I remember being fascinated with this €5

Think it was a pint, IIRC I was working in a bar, so a pint after work.

:D Reminds me of the half litre glasses! Euro has lasted longer in fairness!

I'd say the dealers made a bomb taking advantage of the confusion around the whole thing.

    Shysters.

    We did indeed.
    1 Punt to 1 Euro.
10 Euro an E (We bought them at 3 Euro).
My first Euro spend was 200 pills on a Friday. Sold by 6am on a Saturday.
