Remember when she died, all the outpourings of grief and mad flower leaving around London and other places. Would it happen now? Or would it just be another celebrity death?

I'd say it would be worse tbh. I remember when she died and the news came through i was actually on a British airways flight to NY and the cabin crew where actually crying and stuff which i found very strange.

The hype and media coverage would be even bigger
There were no twitter feeds or facebook memorial pages back then or live streaming over the internet
And there were a lot less TV channels

I wouldn't say so. Sure she's been out of the limelight for ages now!

The Royal Family will just have to have another princess killed to find out..

The older she died the less the effect. She would be 50 now and maybe off the magazine covers.

But she would still have been in the limelight.

She was very popular, as she was the only reasonable influence on the whole shower of wasters.

I have high hopes for william and harry as the rest are useless c**ts.

Jade Goody still would've had a better reception at her funeral :pac:

High hopes for them to do what, achieve world peace or live a pampared privileged life?

If one buys into Carl Jung's theory of the Collective Unconscious, then Princess Diana's archetypal story (virgin princess, wounded by romance, who won people over with the power of love and her humanitarian efforts, and not the love of power etc.) would affect peoples psyches as much today as it did then.

Her death caused an Old Firm game and a Liverpool v Newcastle game to be postponed and basically you couldn't watch TV for about 2 days after it cos it was wall to wall coverage of her death

The Queen of Hearts my fooking hoop!

    Tarts more like!

Imagine if she was killed at an Egyptian football match. That would be nuts

It was hardly hysterical the first time around

I'd be fairly hysterical if she died again to be honest? Maybe I'm on my own here:o

Tbh last night's tragic events at the football in Port Said and Diana's death both started out the same way......with an Egyptian trying to penetrate the box.....

Elton John penned a song for her too, "Sandals in the Bin".

I'd say it would much the same assuming all the circumstances/context were the same.

The whole lot are useless. Maybe, just maybe they could be of some use. William is doing ok, hes actually working for a living. Search and Rescue pilot out of Valley, near Holyhead, and now he is off to the falklands.

In the UK it was, and whilst it wasn't as hysterical over here, I'd say it was still disproportionately hysterical for a Royal from another country.

what annoyed me most was that the grand prix qualifying wasnt shown on the bbc

Me and my mates(all northern english, and not royalists at all) had just landed in Spain for a holiday and wondered why the liverpool v newcastle match that night had been cancelled.

Some cockney woman at the bar we were having breakfast in was crying and shouted over to us "It's princess Di, she's dead ain't she!!"

So i shouted back "And? Was she meant to be fcuking playing or something?"

Didn't go down well in "The British Bulldog" bar....

I'd say if she hadn't have died in 97, survived another fifteen years and then died today there wouldn't be as much hysteria. But if we're talking about if the Diana of 97 died today, it would be much worse.

Mother Theresa died nearly a week later. So you're embellishing what happened there.

i was living in london as well and the whole thing was crazy.

as an aside, on the sunday morning i bought a copy of the irish Sunday Independent, it was ther international edition so would have been printed early the previous saturday evening, inside was a headlie that ran

'' It's do or die for Di and Dodi''

typical Sindo ****e article but i understad it was later pulled form most of the irish editions.

By now there would have been a lot of newspaper expose on her.

Can you imagine the stuff that the phone tapping would have found out ?

    Major James Hewitt
    James Gilbey,
    Hasnat Khan,
    Dodi Al-Fayed,

She would no longer have been the young princess that she was.

And had she gone down the Fergie route ?
