    So did the Darkness,

but they kept with it and i have respect for them braving the enslaught,

the LP dj did a great little duck when a bottle came across him,

Guys, let's be realistic about what happened at the last gig. A plastic bottle was lobbed on stage, then sometime later a plastic cup... Neither hit anyone and if they did they would be little more than irritating... I have no interest in paying good money to be treated like ****e by that git. It's hugely disrespectful to treat your fans so poorly, especially when you are touring with a cover band rather than the real thing. Rose needs to climb off his high horse and understand his position in life...

Thats not the point, and you're factually incorrect too. Look at the video below. Lots of liquid being lobbed up there. Theres a guy on stage with a towel trying to mop up the beer/water at 1 min 22.

****ing idiots throwing stuff at him. And listen to how aggressive people are - shouting at Axl etc. Because he was late?!

    Embarrassing.

The temporary part time MCD staff? ....Those guys told you to leave?

    But nobody was told officially...

Wow The Nal, I didn't realise you knew the employment backrounds of the various O2 Staff I spoke to that night before leaving (you must have been situated near me, know what I look like & have seen everyone I spoke with ?) as directed by people wearing O2 uniforms, whom I must have wrongly presumed were officially & formally working for / employed by the O2/MCD that night & wrongly assumed I was being given such instruction by those in an offically employed by the venue/promoter capacity.

Not sure I would have provoked the right type of reaction had I told any of the O2 staff that night that I wasn't moving because they were temporary part time staff. Bit rude that actually don't you think ? There's a possibility that some of them were not temp part time staff ? Maybe ? I don't know for a fact they were or weren't but I'm guessing you don't for sure either. ;)

Believe it or not - I like GnR but I wasn't happy about how the whole evening /night was managed initially by the O2 Staff (temporary or not) & then how badly it was handled by MCD afterwards in the following days.

Axl could have probably 'fixed' a lot of the crowd mood that night by acknowledging the situation about him being so late to stage, maybe even saying 'sorry guys' & got the crowd onside but he just seemed to either be naively oblivious to the mood for him being so late or just intentionally didn't care & wanted to try brush it aside. People were right to be dissatisfied with him (note I did not say had a right to throw projectiles at him though :D).

I feel sorry for the other musicians in the band who obviously try hard & work hard at their craft to be caught up in such events because of someone with a volatile personality like Axl.

I would have happily bought a ticket & gone along to this upcoming gig, had they just got on with it at the last gig here & had Axl been less of a 'Diva' causing all the commotion by coming on so late. I'm not going this time because of the lack of respect I was shown as a paying punter / fan by Axl the last time & because of how I was treated by MCD when I tried to get my refund.

Like I said previously - I really do hope its a super gig & that anyone that buys a ticket really enjoys their night with GnR etc.. But I won't be giving GnR or MCD any of my 'hard earned' this time around....:)

If bands can survive rain at a festival e.g When i was watching The Strokes at Oxegen last year for most of their set is was pouring down rain. And you can see all the water coming on the stage and yet they kept playing

No, not if you had a ticket in your hand. They're rude asking you to leave.

Probably all of the above. And thats 100% to be expected from him. He would never say sorry, not in a million years. Hes a headcase. Can you really imagine Axl coming on stage and saying "really sorry guys"?

Agree. But people moaning that he left the stage after he was pelted? Thats like waving a red flag at a bull and then complaining you got charged! Or accusing Roy Keane of faking injury and then being surprised when he throws a wobbler.

I feel sorry for them because they got pelted. I dont feel sorry for them other than that. They've never had a gig thats paid better than GnR. We all work with dickheads. And Axl is certainly a world class dickhead.

I'm not going either. But thats not to say I didnt enjoy the last gig or that this one wont be good.

People know now. They should have known what would happen in 2010. Thats the main point. How people expected him to be on time is beyond me. It was widely reported that he was late on for most gigs on that tour, they were two hours late on in Slane in 1992 and didn't get bottled etc.

If people are happy to cough up 70 quid and do no research then they get what they deserve as far as I'm concerned. The same people wouldn't go see a movie or eat in a restaurant without reading about it first.

People saw a standard GnR gig. Axl late on and then storming off stage when the crowd act up. Its been that way since 1986. But us, the special, spoiled, Celtic Tiger babies, deserve a refund and try to justify our disgraceful behaviour and act like this GnR gig was particularly bad and was an exception?

If bands can survive rain at a festival e.g When i was watching The Strokes at Oxegen last year for most of their set is was pouring down rain. And you can see all the water coming on the stage and yet they kept playing

Thats an absolutely moronic post. On a couple of levels. The main point being that festival PAs are set up for all weather purposes, and even that doesn't mean they're 100% immune. Ive seen stages, well covered stages, being closed due to rain, sink in the mud etc. The O2 is an indoor venue so they're not set up to deal with rain and wind, obviously.

You also seem to think he should've just got on with it despite the fact the stage was becoming a dangerous place to stand/run/sing.

Staggering naivety on here from some people. Do you really think hes coming back to "make amends" for the last time? Hes been involved in multiple riots since the 1980s, stadiums (a lot bigger than the O2) getting trashed due to his bahviour, fans stabbed, police cars getting turned over, thousands tear gassed, fights with promoters, fans and paparazzi etc. Do you think he even remembers the gig in 2010 with that level of clarity?!

Or is it more likely that MCD are pushing the "make amends" card as a promotional tool so people will buy the tickets?

    Honestly lads....

Well put - I'd agree 100% with what you've said there...

MCD Propaganda - I couldn't imagine Axl 'giving a crap' about what went down in the O2 in 2010 (except maybe (if at all) on the night)...

I'd question him having the storage capacity in his brain at this stage to try remember all the things / events he's due to make ammends for over the years ;)

Ok - I admit I should have listened more attentatively to the missus on that one - she did mention something like this in passing coversation pre ticket purchase :(

What annoyed me was that I was prepared to tolerate Axl's late arrival - I was there to see the band & hear the music afterall so at that stage I was glad he'd eventually hit the stage... even so late. But I was 'peed off' when he did walk off (not condoning him being pelted with anything) as I was directed towards the exit - wasn't really asked about it. They told me the gig was over & I was directed outside. Even though I wasn't forcibly removed, it didn't seem like a casual question about whether or not I'd like to consider leaving - I was directed out towards the exit - loads of people were in the section I was in. I got no joy from MCD on looking for the refund afterwards - gave up after a few weeks of trying to get one on & off etc..

Great banter & points of view on these forums - thanks to all ;)

Ah, to all the peeps on here that didn't get their money back last time, did you even try all that hard? I got mine back, and no i'm not even tempted to go again. To those that do, enjoy it, I really hope it is a memorable gig for all the right reasons this time.

That's poor from MCD/O2 yeah. Really poor. But its all I'd expect from that bunch of cowards. If they told me the gig was over I would take that as a 100% guarantee that Axl was going to come back ion and pay a cracker!

MCD - dear God, what a bunch of world class stains.

I love it... he starts the gig by declaring "WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE..... YOU GONNA DIE" and ends up pleading with the crowd to control themselves and have fun in a controlled and proper fashion.

Don't fund this cr@p there's plenty of better bands out there.

I've decided. I'm gonna pay to go to this, for one reason and one reason only... I'm gonna bring a soft box of ribena to throw onstage... See how ****head likes that.

I can't believe MCD are saying that Axl wanted to play this gig by way of an apology for what happened in 2010:eek:!!!??? The f***ing sheer neck of them for coming out with this is embarrassing to say the least.

I recall Billy Idol playing a gig in the o2 a couple of years ago to a crowd of only a couple of thousand............I sincerely hope that the same happens to this arrogant little Cee You Next Tuesday.

The f**ker is stuck in a timewarp.

Can't wait for this gig, welcome back Axl!!!

Only real fans this time, no drunk scumbags throwing bottles

Maybe hold it in my local parish hall then...? Should be big enough....?

hey i was there and axl wasn't 15 mins late. if you remember the opening act were on for ages they ran out of stuff to play. guns sorry axl was at least an hour late. but all genuine guns n roses fans know axl is always late thats nothing new.

There isn't a chance in hell that it will be the original line-up. The ticket price alone should tell you that.

Anyone that buys a ticket on the basis that it might be the original GNR is frankly an idiot.

Really don't understand people sometimes. 30 seconds of googling and you'll see that Slash has a new record coming out and is touring and that and Loaded, Duffs band, are actually supporting GnR on this tour. Also, GnR are playing club dates all next week as a warm up for the tour, with the current line up.

So no. The original GnR are clearly not getting back together. Although Duff will most likely come on and play a song or two with them.

You're right though. People will turn up at this gig expecting to see Slash. They did at the last one. People around me: "I really thought Slash would be here". :D

As a bystander looking at this thread, a couple of things occur to me.

MCD couldn't organise a shag in a brothel. I've been a victim of some of their fiascos int he past and they're a pain to deal with afterwards also. I fully believe that that 'making ammends' initiative is their very own and they're putting the words in Axl's mouth. MCD don't give a crap once they're paid and I'm pretty sure most acts don't either. It's a job. If you pay Axl, he'll turn up. MCD are paying because they know they can spin this one and **** people over again because they've been getting away with ****ing people over for a very long time.

Regardless of a few exceptions, if the house lights come up, the gig's over. Anything else is a bonus and shouldn't be expected. If the houselights come up and someone in an official uniform requests that you leave, you leave. If you don't, you're being uncooperative.

Axl is always late... good for Axl. If his voice needs time to warm up, he should start warming up earlier. If that's a problem and getting to a correct level where he's up for the gig is a problem then he should be seeing a professional voice coach who could help him identify the issue and adopt a regime to ensure that getting him in a place where he's ready to do his job isn't a hit 'n miss type of thing but can be done relatively proffessionaly.

At 10:25PM most gigs in the Point are heading into the home stretch. Like it or not, transport in Dublin isn't great and a lot of people aren't in positions to get a taxi home. I used to live in North County Dublin so, except for weekends, my only option if I missed the last bus/train was to get a taxi costing up to €50 home. That'd be on top of the €70+ I'd have had to pay for my night's entertainment in the first place. I have friends who came to Dublin for gigs and travelled back down the country that same night to allow them to get into work the following day. I don't know about Axl's world, but this is the real world for a lot of his fans and he should respect them.

Enjoy the show if you do go but I can't really understand why people are so willing to rush out to buy tickets for this.
