Hi hey, I know this has been done to death and there is a lot of info but i dont know how much of it is reletive to my specific question.

I am currently living in Donegal town since i am near the border i am looking to buy a tv that can pick up both saorview and freeview through the aerial. What exact specs should i be looking for?

A Saorview approved TV should do the job, it has a DVB-T tuner with MPEG-4 video decoding for Saorview which is backwards compatible with the UK's MPEG-2 video decoding standard, it also does MHEG-5 for digital text and future interactive services.

It you want to receive the 4/5 UK FreeviewHD channels (DVB-T2/MPEG-4 standard) when they launch across NI on Oct 24th next check the specs for DVB-T2. Some of the Saorview approved Sony TVs have a DVB-T2 tuner and others too I believe.

Check out the Sony KDLxxEX723BU for example.
