    Hi,
Did anyone go for the citydeal from a few weeks ago - it was "6 month braces" either upper or lower arch for 1250??

Thought it was a fantastic deal at the time - has anyone any feedback from it??

It was offered by an orthodontist in stillorgan, dublin

I wouldn't be expecting any feedback until about 6 months time.... Just a guess....

    Ha ha !!

The person involved is registered with the dental council as an orthodonist so in fairness it's not a clinic offering the treatment as a sideline after getting a day or two's training

I've bought the voucher and plan getting the appliance fitted in two week's time I was just wondering how anyone else who bought the voucher is getting on.

Incidentally I had visited another practice in blackrock (an orthodontist) and received a quote of 4,300 for upper & lower arches. The orthodontist from the City Deal told me I really dont need treatment to the lower arches and in fact said I dont really need the top arch done either. It's more of a cosmetic issue that an alignment. (but one that i am very self conscious about)

    I was very impressed tbh

Sound like your wanting confirmation of a decision you already made and purchased. Maybe let us know how treatment goes. Alignment is a cosmetic issue.

Finners, start treatment quickly, Groupon is severe financial trouble according to recent Channel 4 news report and the financial media in the US. Ask the orthodontist what happens if they go bust.

    Hi there finners

I have not done the deal but would be very interested if there was any fine print or hidden extras, restrictions on appointments etc.

    good luck

Have you started your treatment finners? Are you happy with how it's progressing?

I recall seeing a special offer for 6 month braces and thinking there was something unseemly about it.

There seemed to be terms and conditions around it eg if your teeth are suitable, if there is space etc etc.

My own view is that a professional with probably at least 8 years of university education should not be doing "special offers". The priority should be to offer world class treatment and, in the case of orthodontics, on a very individual and specialised basis.

Thank you for that "world class " comment. Healthcare is not a commodity and while I fully acknowledge that orthodontic treatment is a big investment, there may come a point where quality could be sacrificed and this should never be the case.

    Hi finners

I also got this and have just had my brace fitted to my upper teeth, how is your treatment going? How long you have yours fitted now, any change in your teeth?

    Hi,
Yeah got them fitted a couple of weeks ago.
So far so good (as far as I know!)
I was apprehensive but delighted now that I got them fitted.
The clear brackets really make the difference and I have got very used to it.
The pain went away after a couple of days - I can feel that my teeth are moving (I just went for top teeth too) but I suppose I wont be able to judge until the treatment is finished.

I am happy that there are no restrictions on appts etc as is often the case with citydeals..

I saw another similar deal a week or so ago however it was offered by a general dentist practice in town - dont think they have an orthodontist in the practice....

Suppose I'll know in 6-9 months which is how long the ortho said it would take!

    Hi
Have them on nearly 4 months now.
So far I'm really happy with the progress and the difference is really noticeable.
I was told that my teeth have pretty much moved as much as they need to and the last wire (which was fitted last week) will keep them in place until the braces come off in 2 months time.
The last wire was quite sore so i think it moved the teeth slightly.
Overall I am really happy with the service, the staff in the surgery and the ortho himself.

I have seen some dentists offering discount group deals for braces, however they were not registered orthodontists. The guy who offered the deal I bought is an orthodontist which I think makes a huge difference. I would not have bought / used a deal offered by regular dentist who doesnt have the extra years training an orthodontist has.

Ah delighted to hear it, I am getting one's in a few weeks (hopefully if I get my loan) I just needed to know if they work, seems to work from what I've seen on here. Just dying to get them on now :):)
