I went to my first meeting tonight! I lost over 3 stone before Christmas through Cambridge. Tonight I was horrified to see I've put nearly a stone back on since December:(. As the leader said what matters is "you're here now". 2 stone 3lbs to goal. Looking forward to reading this thread for support!

The fact ya went back to it is the main thing. You won't know yourself in a few weeks. Im just starting week 4 and I got my half stone tonight. Genuinely feel soooo much better in myself. It gets very difficult and no one on this is going to lie to you and say that they don't have wobbles, but before you know it you will be flying!!! Try and keep an eye on this thread, the girls (and lads) on this are brilliant for motivation, recipes, tips etc...

Good luck!!! Onwards and downwards!!!! :D

Had a gOod ole read of all the posts from the last few days 2night and they've helped me not lose heart completly, really hoping this week I can rein it and and finally start losing again, at this sonce october and hav yet 2 reach the stone...was doing ok before xmas, generally 1lb a week, bu since xmas iv jus stoped losing, at least I'm not gaining tho, that's the main thing!!!

    Hey Kay80
Yes that was me that mentioned about using my weeklies for treats.. I kind of started doing it today and I do feel it makes me go for the more healthy option, rather than saying 'oh I've 5 pp left.. I'll have a crunchie!' which is what I'm guilty of doing a lot!

I'm finding sticking to the 26 pp quite difficult and today was first day I didn't go over but I'm starving!! I made a lovely carrot, parsnip and leek bake earlier, very tasty and only 4 pp a portion- if anyone interested I'll post recipe?

Need to get back into my walking/gym, I got a puppy and am bringing her walking everyday but spend more time untangling her from the lead!

Hi Lisa! Sorry to be a pain! But ever since I got the heads up on the mini magnums a while ago I don't want to miss out an anything suggested on here haha!
So could you tell me what passata is, what meats pizzain are and if the lean mince is under a different name on the pack?!
Because I always look for lean mince and I couldn't see it, they had premium mince and prime mince I think it was, but obviously lean is the best choice.
    Thanks! :D

Hey Dani just wondering have you changed up your foods at all or are you eating the same thing all the time? Are you eating all your dailies? Are you eating your weeklies? Are you eating your activity points? there's loads of reasons you could have plateaued. Not eating enough, eating too much, eating the same things all the time, too many low/high pp treats etc. I'd try changing up my foods during the week, ensure I was weighing everything & tracking every bit, drinking lots of water to flush out your system, cutting back on diet fizzy drinks etc ( I found if I drank too much diet coke it bloated me & I was inclined to retain water) you are probably already doing that though?

I've had plateaus in the past & what got me out of it was all the above ^ I found that my body was getting to used to eating xyz all the time so changed up my old staples, tried some new recipes & it helped. I found increasing my fish intake, decreasing my treats & eating all my weeklies really helped :) failing that have you checked the battery on your scales? It's good you are not putting on weight but it's strange your weight hasn't budged at all it's almost like you are maintaining? Have you tried weighing in at a different day? Maybe try doing some of the filling & healthy days as a change & see how you get on?

+ 1 on Aldi I actually prefer Lidl for some of my fruit & veg my local one is always really well stocked & I get great bargains on aubergines, melons, vine tomatoes, pineapples etc. the Passata in there is great value at 59c I think for 500ml - it's the core for the bulk of my pasta based sauces & chilli & one of the curries I make. I don't know what it is with our local Aldi but they never have much in the line of fresh veg & fruit it's usually fairly battered by the time I get there in the evening! I love the olive oil & dried pasta in there though & the frozen fruit is so handy for smoothies :)

I find I have to do 4 supermarkets though to get all my bits Aldi/Lidl for all my store ingredients, dunnes or tesco's for all the branded stuff & some meat & then either M&S or an ethnic food shop for all my other bits & pieces! I try to hit them all once every 2 weeks to keep the house stocked!

M'lady I'm going to do that re treats i think its a good idea. I pretty much cut my treats down to 2 or 3pp per day & that was only 'if' i felt like something the last 2 weeks so I think it's doable as well from tomorrow when I start my new week & I'm definitely going to try do 2-3 days of the filling & healthy option too. :)

In regards to the filling days, I noticed something last night, in our pocket guide it has 'calorie controlled' bread highlighted in green, meaning thats allowed on those days! I presume when they say calorie controlled they are talking about their own bread?!

I'd say so yes. But i would imagine Hovis nimble would be allowed as well because that is calorie controlled too AFAIK

Actually m'lady can you throw up your Carrot Parsnip and Leek bake if you don't mind. It sounds lovely and I like to eat alot of veggie food. I'm loving that parsnips are on the Healthy filling lists, I love them roasted and 'treated' myself over xmas to them but I tend to not eat them regularly as they have to be pointed but they're gorgeous in soups too!. I'm all about new recipes at the minue I'm trying to switch up my usual go to foods :)

I made a gorgeous veggie curry last night and I'm still full from it. I at last found a recipe for a decent base which isn't loaded with PP so I made a big batch of it last night (first attempt at this particular one) I got 5 portions of sauce out of it at 2pp a portion and it'll be handy to pop out of the freezer for whatever type of curry i'm in the mood for. I then just decided to have a veggie curry last night as i'd lots of nice bits in. Really tasty and filling for an 8pp dinner :)

My previous pre WW recipes were all pretty much Thai and had alot of coconut milk in them. I must admit though it was hot! but I like things spicy BUT it'll get even hotter once it's frozen

Passata is made from tomatoes that have been puréed and sieved to remove the skin and seeds. It comes in a square box for 59c I think. Its a 0pp base for pasta sauce or pizza bases anything really. I never heard of it before ww now Its always on my list!

The Meat Pizza is a fresh Pizza in the fridge near the Garlic Bread, it is 11pp for half we love them!! You can get ham and pinapple plain cheese n pepporoni aswell.

I think the mince we get is Premium Steak Mince. My brother is a butcher and always says go for steak mince over anything else as its off a less fatty part of the cow. I will double check tomorrow night when shopping what the name is on it!

From reading other forums I think most of the F&H list is based on weight watchers branded breads etc.

The ww bread I used was 2pp a slice and not great but we accidently got a Johnson Mooney and O Briens wholemeal bread is the local garage and when i pointed it its 2pp each or 4pp for 2 which I am happy about cause normally proper bread rounds up to 2 for 5pp or even 6pp.

Anybody know where I can get the weight watchers cream? Do Superquinn stock it? Wanna make my mam a flan for her birthday tomorrow!

    I've seen it in Tesco!
Taught the fact that they mentioned last night that they were voting in pacts (don't think that's the word i'm looking for put you know what i mean) takes away from the biggest loser the person who put in the most effort on the team sent home for no good reason.. i hate B*tchyness :( but still have to watch those shows!

I do rather OT but again feel that telling people your goal for this week is 4lb or 3lb is hard on the person. We all have to admit we would love to lose that much but are still ecstatic with or 1lb losses and they are making it seam like 1lb a week is not enough. I know its all TV and hopefully we will all still be here long after these shows finish up until next January when its time to be healthy again!

Good Luck to everyone this week!! I have my dinners planned till next Wednesday nothing is going to knock me off track this week!

OMG watched the biggest loser last night! I assume you were talking about what the black team did! the girl on that team! she was so horrible! they are going to pay this week if the trainer has his way he was not impressed! such bad form! plus she did not care what she said!

Hey guys, just a quick post on something a friend told me during the week!

She's currently following the dr dukan diet (doesn't seem very healthy but she seems to find it good) and in one of her support emails, they mentioned the different brands of water. Apparently, the lidl bottled water contains twice as much sodium as other brands (e.g. Volvic or evian) and so dehydrates you as well as hydrating you? This leads to water retention etc, and I just found it interesting as its not something I would normally think to look at!

Just thought I'd share, as I find drinking water is essential to a good loss, and this could explain why it doesn't seem to work for some! Well done on all the losses this week, motivation on this thread is fab since Christmas, keep up the good work everyone :)

I love the Marks and spencer chocolate chip cookies, the big ones that come five in a bag from the bakery section.
Anyone got any idea of their points value, I was thinking maybe 5 or 6?

Here's my curry paste recipe for Baileypants & M'lady

    Ingredients :
1 can of Blue dragon light coconut milk 400ml can = 8pp
    500ml passata 0pp

    Paste ingredients
    2tsp ground cumin
    2tsp ground coriander
    1tsp ground turmeric
3 long fresh chillies Inc seeds (take seeds out if you don't like it too hot & spicy)
    2 thumbs of ginger
    6 cloves of garlic
4tsp  lemongrass (the squeeze tube you get in the salad section of supermarket is fine )
    3 shallots
    Little bit of cold water

Note I'm counting all the dried spices as 1pp -up to 1 tbsp is 0 & after that 1tbsp is 1pp I have just under 2 tbsp there

    Method:

    1. Roughly chop all the fresh ingredients put into a food processor/ blender add the spices & some water ( about 50-60 ml) Grind all to a paste. It should be a finely chopped paste & a lovely yellow colour

    2. Heat a wide bottom non stick pan add  in a little groundnut oil (1pp) or spray oil if you prefer add the paste & fry for a few  mins so the flavour releases from the spices & some of the 'heat' cooks out.

    3. Add the can of coconut milk & the passata bring to the boil ( not hard though), simmer for 5 mins ensure you give the sauce a good mix as the coconut milk & passata might look split & you need to ensure it mixes well with the paste.

Total recipe 10pp ( includes 1 for the oil i used to fry the paste) serves 5 so 2pp per portion

Be careful of the brand of reduced fat coconut milk you buy they all vary wildly! The blue dragon light  is the lowest pp version I've found at 8pp I've seen one at 16pp!!! So please check the NI of the brand you use.  This is not a sweet curry it's fragrant the coconut milk helps carry the spices.

You can portion this & freeze it as I have done but know that it will get spicier when frozen & defrosted.  We like things hot but if that is not to your taste reduce down the number of chillis & remove seeds if you wish.

Don't substitute dried ginger, garlic or chilli or the squeezy 'lazy' chilli for this recipe you really need the fresh ingredients to give it some zing ;)

To make your curry ( I'll give example of chicken which I did for the OH)

    1 breast of chicken
    Handful of green Beans
4 baby sweet corn halved lengthways
    1 scallion roughly chopped.

    1. Stirfry your chicken breast & after 1-2 mins add in 3 tbsp of your curry sauce you made above ( it will spit & it will stain so wear an apron when doing this!
    2. after 5 mins or so add in the green beans & baby sweetcorn. Stir & toss all the time you want the little bit of paste to cook into the meat/veg but don't let it burn.
    3. When chicken is cooked take off heat & add 1/5 of the above sauce( which I'll assume is still warm & should equate to about 190-200ml of sauce I used my soup ladle & used 2 ladle fulls per person) & the spring onion give everything a stir. If required put back on the heat for a minute or two till warmed through.
    4. Serve with rice & enjoy :)

This works really well for veggies as well - I had mine with aubergine, baby sweetcorn, peppers, green beans & springonion  i basically cooked in the same way but a separate wok.  I stir fried the veg in a little paste, when al dente enough for me i added my sauce as above & served with 60g of rice mine worked out at an 8pp dinner.  & its a big plate of dinner especially if you use wholegrain basmati rice. The OH's was 13pp ( 6 for rice, 4 for chicken, 1 for oil & 2 for sauce.

    Enjoy!
