you are correct, I really meant like communist china dictating the blocking of websites as this is what Irish sopa will be doing. yes Ireland will be a facist state also soon. just woke up so wasn't on the ball in my meaning.
Stop digging, China isn't a communist state.

The word you are looking for is "authoritarian".

If anyone else is sending out an email can you rewrite it a bit or they'll just filter out the form emails. The titles at a minimum.

I have to say I'm not normally in favour of this sort of thing but it will do the lot of them good to be honest.

A list of all the Irish TD's emails also a few home numbers and mobiles :D Come on anonymous!!

Why would Anonymous want their home or mobile numbers?

Let's hope they continue, there's no upset when they take the Government website at night

Either to make them accessible to people who want to contact or their representatives or... so they can make threatening phone calls.

Doxing is just standard procedure now, I haven't heard much come of it for the last few years.

The government is promising a 'whole response' to the attacks.

It says a lot about my faith in Irish politics that I fancied Facebook's, a ****ing website's, chances against Anonymous...yet I don't fancy our entire government's in the slightest.

In fairness, Facebook has a lot more bandwidth than the irish government sites. I would expect Facebook to hold up better. Anonymous did take down the doj site too.

You'd be surprised how much websites and their maintenance can cost.

I worked for a company that had a €100,000 contract for the site of a major company. Granted it did more than that site appears to do but we're only seeing 5% of it.

Man, what happened to this country,

we were the first to bring in no smoking and now this.
    Personally I don't really give a $hit because :

    A) I'm smarter than they are and will still be able to access whatever I want
    B) EU laws overrule Irish laws so if SOPA did come into Ireland, EU law would over rule it anyway.

and lastly I will be spending most of tonight adding the TD's numbers to gay calling sites etc etc.. signing up their emails for spam / newsletters, rssfeeds, the whole lot. I will be puchasing a six pack later and rolling up my marigolds to get this done.

The worrying thing is Google , twitter etc... could pull their HQ's from Ireland if this comes in as a protest and that wouldn't be great for jobs but our gobberment are muppets anyway so there must be a brown envelope in it somewhere from EMI

I can't help but think these attacks to more harm than good for the cause. As it is, most Irish politicians are luddites and extremely technologically ignorant - especially when it comes to the internet. This will just convince them that opposition to the Irish SOPA is comprised entirely of criminals and pirates, not innocent, rational people who value free speech.

As always, TJ McIntyre says it better.

They aren't doing anything that protest movements have not being doing for cenuries.

but maybe we should all just shut up and take what the government decide is in our best interest.

FFS we're not even getting the chance of appropriate representation on this issue as it won't be debated by the Dáil.

endakenny.com is looking rather spiffy tonight.

Was there since before the election, its a Sinn Fein supporters site. Some of the graphics used on it were used on other anti-FG/Kenny material on the internet while being very pro Sinn Fein. Remember folks, the opposition will slam pretty much everything the government do so don't take much notice of SF or any of the other eejits who come out against this. FG/Lab would do the exact same thing if in opposition. Its how our government system works.

As for what Anon crowd did - target Irish websites during off peak times has absolutely no impact (or very little impact). They could have at least targeted the servers during peak time. This was more a silent protest.

Damp squid and our media have gone riot on the news.

Barely a squeak in the papers, the indo and the times are both running the story way down the page.

Its not big news. If they actually made a significant impact, it would be better reported. Sites get hit all the time.

They said the attack was timed during off hours as a warning shot or something.

Eh are them phone numbers not easily available anyway, like in the phonebook?
They arnt the home numbers are they.??
I think the numbers could be used for better than sopa bills anyway. Id love to ring Enda Kenny whilst fapping. If only I could get his home number.

Yeah they are but I put them up for people to put them to good use.
