    Hey Folks

I am in the middle of preparing dinner and decided to double check the pro points as given by Tesco Light Choice range. It says that in 127g of Sweet and Sour sauce there is 1/2 a point. I used two different calculators and they both say it equals 2 points! I am so annoyed and now wondering if they have the information wrong on all their Light Choice's range.

Am I missing something or do I need to email a complaint.

They are the points from the old system. I'm almost sure that they have started changing the labels over but there is still alot of stuff out there that hasn't changed yet. I really though they would have by now? So I would point everything from the NI with your calculator for the new system. I usually would get the same things so I know what they are once you check once

So I said it to the girl at the desk about the prepays. There were two that I had missed (apparently if you prepay and miss weeks you lose prepays for every week you missed) However, she said that I used a prepay last week. I told her that I definitely paid the €10 and she said that the money last week was correct. It was a bit of an impasse and I wasn't going to argue about it so I told her it was grand. There was obviously another mistake along the way last week because I know hand on heart that I paid cash, because it was my last tenner before payday. The girl was nice about it but as far as she was concerned the money balanced so that was that. Bleh, I'd be hesitant to bother with prepays in future tbh. More hassle than they're worth.

Chinafoot, I think that girl was definitely wrong. When you miss, you just pay the rejoin fee. I had prepays a few months ago and I missed one week and I wanted to pay the €15 but she had put my card in before I could say it and it took 2 out of my remaining 4 prepays. I queried this and she was most unhelpful (most of the cash girls are) but she called the leader over and he sorted it out there and then. You should ask your leader next time. That is your money!

Well done on all your exercise! I'm very bad at getting up & doing anything :-/ I'll have to at some stage when the lbs become stagnant! ;-)
Thanks! I was hoping to speed up my weight loss so far not so good LOL but I feel so much better and it will show eventually :)

Well she was going back through the weeks that I had gone to class and when I missed two weeks it took for those two weeks. I had been told about that before (from a different clerk last year) as when she said it it rang a bell with me. Thats why they recommend you use cash to cover the missed weeks instead of your prepays.

The €10 from last week is niggling at me though. I know I gave it to her so either a mistake was made with another person, she counted the cash wrong, or she didn't want to fess up to the mistake. I didn't have the energy to argue it though and she was very nice to me. I'm putting it down as one of the free ones but I definitely won't be bothering with prepays. As much as I want to say I will be there every week but I know there'll be times I won't :P

Just had my WI and I'm down 1.5lbs. I was pretty disappointed with it after all the work I've done but I do think I'm being too hard on myself. Its week 3 and I'm down 4.5 in total which averages above my 1lb a week goal. So gonna stay positive and keep at it!

Well done for everyone on their losses :)

Hi everyone, Im at weightwatchers since the first week in December, have lost a stone and 3 since then! have my weigh in 2mro and stupidly weighed myself this evening on my own scales and it looks like I havent lost anything!!! :-( GRRR!!have never exercised as much, havent used any of my weeklies and reduced my pp last week from 29 to 27, wondering should I be eating more or maybe keep my pp at 29!! confused!! has anyone any advice ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 283 ✭✭Kay_80

Tiny Penguin you are being too hard on yourself in 3 weeks you've lost an average of 1.5lbs per week that's great! & I'd be thrilled if I was in your shoes :)

To all the newbies can I just give a piece of advice? Please do not get hung up on the number on the scales good or bad as it maybe .... Bottom line is tge scales can lie ( I heard a trainer say this in the gym & it's so true!) if you were to weigh yourself every hour over the course of the day your weight can fluctuate wildly for obvious reasons, similarly from day to day it will change as well. Guess what your body doesn't 'know' what time you WI at so therefore your 'true' weight may not be the one given at your WI. It can take up to 80 hours for your body to fully digest some food, your body can retain fluid for many different reasons you can be dehydrated from exercise or the morning after a night of heavy alcohol.

Basically what I'm trying to say is focus on more than the number on the scales, how do you feel? How do you look? Are your clothes looser? Can you see your collar bones now are your cheek bones more defined are you losing that horrible bloated & sluggish feeling from how you were pre this new lifestyle change?

I get that when you start WW you are to some degree all consumed with it but don't let the number on the scales take over & ruin you. Over the course of your journey you are going to have big losses, small losses, STS's & gains & not all will be easy to identify as to the reason why. Take the good with the bad ensure you stay on plan, treat yourself be kind to yourself & most importantly give yourself a pat on the back for taking the first step towards changing your lifestyle! :)

It's a hard thing to do loose weight & keep it off no need to make it a horrible arduous journey as well. Celebrate all the little goals along the way not just silver 7's or stones. Focus on the bigger picture & don't set yourself up for failure or berate yourself for having a weak moment, bad day or whatever. Draw a line & move on it's not a race to the finishline, it's crossing it that matters not how quickly you got there.

PS pick up 1/2 lb of butter & think about what you lost every 1/2 lb adds up it's not 'only' 1/2 lb it's another 1/2lb gone :D

You should definitely stay positive and be really happy with that weightloss. You don't have a huge amount to lose so you won't be able to pull big losses unless you work out like they do on the biggest loser. I have (if I can correctly recall your starting weight) over 3 stone more to lose than you and I struggle to lose a pound a week. I have to be SUPER good and exercise almost every day to lose a pound and I am delighted when I do.

As my old leader said, it's a marathon not a sprint! (and also, if you lose big amounts too fast, you are (a) more like to put it back on easily and (b) have a higher possibility of saggy skin!)

Give yourself a big pat on the back for losing 4.5lb in 3 weeks!! :)

Audi driver that's quite alot of weight to lose so quickly - well done.

There are many reasons why you weigh more in the evening ( usually) than the morning as alot of us have said in the thread over the last couple of weeks ( myself, Monife, Eabha etc) you may not be eating enough especially if you are exercising alot. Why are you not eating your weeklies? Is there a reason you dropped your daily pp allowance?

It sometimes takes a week or two for the exercise to show on the scales. The other thing to point out is that for some ppl who lose alot very quickly the weightloss can slow down usually but not always you will lose more at the first month or so. The recommended is 1-2lb per week.

Focus on more than the number on the scales :) if you've put in the work from a physical & nutritional point of view it will show up - eventually! Your body is on it's own timetable not the WW WI day/time unfortunately. Don't give up you are doing brilliantly it's totally understandable to be frustrated when you don't 'see' the result you want or think you deserve but it will come off.... Eventually keep at it.

Thanks for the lovely advice Kay80!! :-) your right I shoulnt get so hung up on the scales!!! I dropped my pp because the leader said it was up to us if we wanted to drop from 29 down to 27 or 26, something to do with changes in the programme! so thought Id see if I could do it, I didnt use any of my weeklies either because I felt like I didnt need them, Id only be using them for treats rather than healthy stuff!!haha! I dont drink so I dont need them for drinking, how does everyone use theirs or do they?

Some very motivating words on here this evening! You're all such a great support system to keep me on track! :-)

No problem Audi driver that's why we're all here. I know exactly how it feels to get frustrated by the scales & the Journey!

What I would say is wait till your WI see what it is & see how you feel. If 29pp was working for you ( & gee you're down 17lbs so it definitely is!) I would be inclined to stick with that. As for the weeklies this is a personal choice but they are there to be used & not just for the occasional treat.

From my own point of view I use my weeklies every week or at least try to. I lose more on the weeks i use them than the weeks i dont. I've been doing WW for exactly a year now, I spent 8 weeks working manic hrs so wanted to just maintain during that time & I took 4 weeks off plan over the course of the year (3 being in December) so in 40 weeks I've lost 35lbs :) I would love it to be more BUT I'm extremely happy with that & I know how hard I had to work to lose that. I had loads of STS lots of losing 1/2 or 3/4's of a lb but when i look at the totsl number im really proud of myself! :)

I've about 19-20lbs to go to get me into the 9st something bracket I don't know what my end goal is yet I'll wait & see how i feel & look. :)

As for what I spend my weeklies on usually half on alcohol & half on food. It changes week to week but I tend to use them on weekends. Last week I stayed in so used 21pp on a bottle of red wine, 9pp on an avocado, 11pp on a small pizza from m&S 4pp on a multi pack bag of Doritos & I have the remaining 4 left. I tend to either go out for lunch or dinner at the weekend or cook alot so I factor in what I guess most ppl on healthy eating plans term their 'cheat' day & use my weeklies For it :)

LOL I've realised I must come across as an avocado loving nutjob! I'm always posting about them as I love them but only allow myself one every 2 weeks I always use my weeklies for it as well. :P

The Lasange looks Yum I have to ask though does the low low work in the sauce? I use regular butter & I actually never use mozzarella in mine is it 'stringy' but I'm loving the look of yours Baileypants it looks delicious it's great when you get a few staples together for big cook offs for the freezer they're so handy to pull out for nights you havent time for cooking a full on dinner & stops you eating bad choices :)

The low fat spread worked great if you ask me! Though I'm not expert ;-) can't wait for lunch tom now haha :-)

Oh and that's the 1at time I ever used mozzarella as I don't really like it on it's own, I thought it was a lovely addition to the flavours in this though :)

Just back from lunch (Lovely tuna wrap and salad) but prior to that I was in a meeting ALL morning! So even though I had brought my cereal with me, that had gone out the window.... and HORROR.... I had a small danish.

Anyone any idea of how many points are in danishes?? I literally took the smallest one that was on offer...

Had great plans to be sooooo good today and yet this bloody meeting totally blindsided me. Stuck in a conference room for 4 hours broke me! :P

    Hey ali85.
WW Online has a Danish weighing 90g as 9pp....

Thanks Kay, I know you are totally right. I would prob be delighted with 1.5lbs if I hadnt STS last week. But I do know I have to think about the bigger picture. I'm comitted to this though and gonna work at changing my attitude for the better!

But yeh I am working on getting more positive with my losses and keeping the scales moving down.

I have to say this thread is brilliant, such good support to be found here!

when it comes to the weeklies..do people find they lose more when they use them or not?

I am exercising a good bit (all moderate like cycling to work)..eat some but not all of the exercise points. am really determined as I have a friends wedding to go to at the end of march.

i could manage without the weeklies but want to maximise the weight loss before the wedding!

I know exactly what you mean tiny penguin the STS can be a head wrecker especially when you worked your ass off & ate really well the week it happens, your feelings are totally valid & justified & honestly when I started & had my first STS I felt the same way, but like you I was determined & I ploughed on regardless with the help of the people here & my own determination & I just know you will too - you're in the right mindframe for this & in the zone you're not half heartedly doing it that's why it's all the more frustrating to have a STS or dread the thought a gain but this is why I know you can do it.

I find if ppl do this have hearted or let the loss or lack thereof get them down they fall of the wagon - hard- sometimes they use the sts as an excuse to eat rings round them & lots of crap because ' sure i ate like a saint & exercised loads & lost nothing so whats the point of staying on plan'? Type of thing they end up in a vicious cycle then & that isn't healthy.

I'm not saying for one minute you are like that but I just want you to know you're not alone in your frustration. All our bodies work differently you'll eventually get in sync with yours & how quickly/slowly you lose weight & once you do it's much easier to cope with the STS going forward because you know it will turn around :) I started with about same amount of weight as you to lose & I'm now over half way there. You'll get there too keep the faith & be proud of yourself :)

Best of luck for the week ahead!

Thanks :-) I totally used to be that person that would eat rings around myself when i had a bad week, but I made a conscious decision not to do that this time. No matter what the scales say I'm gonna keep on counting my propoints and doing the exercise.

Oh yeh and I meant to say I made that white sauce from the lasagna recipe. It was for a pasta bake thing I made and like you I was really sceptical of this without real butter, and the way it was all put in the pot at the same time. But I have to say it worked out really well, i was very impressed and will def be making the lasagna now :-)

I agree with every thing Kay said! but you know I blame tv programs like biggest loser, operation transformation, were they are looking for losses of more than 3 pounds per week and if they have a loss of 1 or even half a pound its terrible and they are so disappointed. when I'd be so happy with 1/2 a pound every week! so be very proud of your 1 and a half I think its great!

Well done on your weight loss so far, I took months to get to a stone down, not for the lack of trying either! but you can sometimes weigh 1kg more in the evening !our weight fluctuates through out the day, see what your WI brings.

Kay what great advice! thank you :)

I have noticed, just in the last 3 or 4 weeks that I have been on the WW wagon again that when I do treat myself to something REALLY BAD, like last week I had a mad craving for a burger and chips (saved up some points during the day and used some weeklies :) ), I find that I am not enjoying it at all. I actually felt kinda sick after eating it.

I have really started to understand the whole idea of WW this time around, its not a diet, its a life style. How it took me so long to realise it is absolutely nuts. Its perfect logic. If you eat chippers, chinese, pizza etc each and every day, of course you are going to gain weight... but the fact that you can still enjoy these things without going overboard. Have it once a week or a fortnight and make up for it by being good for the rest of the week. You can't possibly stay away from unhealthy but sooooo sooooo tasty things forever, its just about moderation.

My sister joined WW two weeks ago. She hadn't got much to lose in comparison to most of us starting out only about 10lb... but she broke before 1st WI and didn't go, I know she isn't coming tonight, that much is clear from the wrappers from the Roma every second night. She just can't fathom that you can just cut back on that stuff and make a huge difference. WW isn't for everyone but I can honestly say its making me feel so much better in myself. I haven't even lost half a stone yet and already I feel so much more spritely and less tired during the day.

If I get my silver 7 tonight, the treat is a bag of chips to share with the OH and some bread and butter.... and I can honestly say I am gumming for it!!! So I better be down hahahaha!!!

Sorry for the long post folks... I do tend to go on a bit hahaha!

    Hey all..

Had my WI last night and lost a pound (the pound I gained over the xmas!).

I am considering doing the filling and healthy, even for a couple of days a week, is anybody else gonna give it a bash? My leader spoke about it last night, but I don't think she is really 'into' it, so only spoke about it for 5 mins, did anybody else experience that?

I can see the benefits, and what I like about it is that you dont have to do it for the full week (unlike the old core plan) and it could be good if you were very busy and needed a break from pointing.
I think it would encourage me personally to eat better foods and less crap!

I have decided that I really have to start WW properly and stop my half assed attempt and hoping for the best. Its 3 weeks till my birthday, and I am going to lose at least 5lbs for that. I am going to start giving WW the 'time' it deserves, my that I mean sitting down and planning my meals properly and not just grabbing whats there.

Anyway sorry for long post, I think better when I am typing it up!

Can anyone explain the 'filling and healthy' option to me? ;)

I STS today. I would have liked a loss but I've been feeling bloated the last few days so I'll take the sts. On the plus side I've lost 5lbs over the last four weeks so I'm still on track for my goal of 1lb a week :) I definitely need to up my exercise though so that's my aim for this week.

Kay your advice is really good. I couldn't agree with you more :)

You're like my twin! Exactly the same as every single part of what you've said there!
Good luck at your weigh in tonight! We're in the same boat in that I'm hoping to get my 1st SS tomorrow night!
I really hope we do it !!!!!!!!! :D
Push it push it !! Ha ha :D

Ha at least we have each other baileypants!!! :)

Just had my brekkie down in our canteen, avoiding the cooked breakfast is getting soooo much easier, I'm lucky too as they always have sweetener as well as normal white and brown sugar so at least I'm not lugging my box of sweetener around with me... :P Had my cereal with me and my new addiction.... mandarin oranges! OMFG sooooo addicted!!! Have hit tescos twice already since Saturday to get another net of them!!

Someone just told me that I lost a "ton" of weight. I didn't know how to respond, think I was a little bit put out by the unit of measure!

Must email her and thank her because I know it was meant as a compliment, I just stood there spouting some gibberish.

Weigh in tonight, later than normal as it's bridesmaid dress shopping time after work. One of the other Bridesmaids is kind of obsessed with body size so I'm expecting some comments, better get my gibberish prepared. :pac:
