Lads, the Class A bit largely irrelevant.
Class of operation makes very little tonal difference at all, that's a myth.

The important question is whether it's single ended and/or whether it's cathode biased.
To my ears the JCM800 model does snarl like it's big brother, so I'm gonna guess it's a push pull architecture using one or two 12AU7.

Marshall Ireland maybe you can confirm?

Speaking of Blackstar, I was disappointed they didn't release any new amps, they're one of the best up and coming amp companies around.

They do everything from one watt mini combos up to three-channel 200watt stacks, and have amp ranges at various price points. And a range of pedals. I'd love to see what new stuff they could come up with....

In the past I'd have agreed but the more I try their stuff, the more I say, "Meh ".

I am definitely getting one of those Fender Excelsior amps.
