I've actually gone out and done 30-yarders in the mud of a rugby pitch, hit them poorly and they still go through. No excuse at that range.

What was on the line if you missed? Unless it's the Heineken Cup or World Cup or Super 14, it doesn't compare..

Wow, great game, great finish, well..................esp for NE fans !! but.............how did that happen, the Ravens had a TD, then had a guaranteed FG..............yikes !!
I hope the next game is as close, and it should be.

Considering that amount of obvious TDs that the zebras reviewed they should've reviewed that.

Joe had a great game in the stat line, but you also have to remember that Smith should've ran onto one for a TD and Evans dropped a TD. He's turning into a clutch player.

It'd be entirely unfair to blame Flacco for that, he was class. Recievers and cundiff on the other hand... feel awful sorry for Reed and Lewis, it was their last shot imo

It was clearly knocked down before he got his second foot down so there was no need to review it!

I was pretty sure he got two feet down but eagle says they have to be simultanious which I didn't know so that's the end of that one.

That's the beauty of the sport...nothing is guaranteed. If every 32 yard FG was automatic then it would be pretty boring. Kickers messing up short kicks is as much a part of the drama of the NFL as some other kicker nailing a 50+ yarder!

Well its up to the booth to buzz down...so they must not have thought it was necessary!

On the replay he only got one foot down before the ball was knocked out of his hands, therefore no TD.

But at least this year we dispelled the myth that our defense won't be the same without Lewis when he was out. Our defense of the deep ball could be badly damaged without Ed Reed, he's the one we badly need to replace imo.

Seriously, can people please at least learn the basic rules before posting about the sport?

Think Lewis and Reed give one more year

If we made it the SB I think they would have retired straight afterwards

On to the next game, come on niners

And it could do some bad mental damage too. 4 consecutive years deep into the play-offs and not even a Superbowl appearance to show for it, let alone a ring.

true, and he has his ring. It's Reed i feel bad for.

Was just thinking, could there be any greater insult to the Mannings if Brady were to beat Eli in Indy?

You consider that rule a basic rule?

I missed that but I guess you mean Aerosmith? Steven Tyler is from Boston.

I'm now supporting the Giants in the late game, I don't want Jim to get a ring before John, considering what they have done for their teams. If there's anything the Ravens need this offeason, it's getting rid of Cam Cameron.

What does or not constitute a TD is pretty fundamental to the whole sport.

How about Joe Flacco tonight lads? Very, very good performance from him. He craves credit and deserves it for that game.

Ooops, yup, thanks for that, I'm doing a quote for Aerospace at the moment so it must be on my mind

You said, considering the amount of obvious TD's they review they should have reviewed that one.

A basic rule in the NFL is that every scoring play is reviewed automatically.

A play where no TD is scored does not get reviewed.

If it was called a TD on field, its reviewed automatically, if its not ruled a TD then how can it be reviewed?

It was also clearly not a TD might I add. Also a basic rule. Poor play from the receiver, has got to hold on there.

Flacco stepped up and was very good overall, genuinely have to take into account how poor the Pats pass D is though tbh.

Another basic rule is every play under two minutes can be reviewed if the upstairs offical deems it worth of a review.

My guess is that the success rate for that distance must be over 95% these days.

For the 2011 season there were 571 attempts from 0 to 39 yards, 526 were made. ~0.921%
    Numbers from here

Any estimates on what time this NFC game will be over at?

But not basic. For me, holding the ball, in bounds (as shown by 2 feet down), in the endzone, touchdown. I just either haven't seen that rule called by the zebras before, or wasn't paying attention.
