airbag light on vw passat?

Folks, the airbag light came on today reading "airbag fault" on the dash. I didnt hit anything and was on a straight stretch of road when it happened. Any ideas on how to switch it off or do I have to take it to garage? Thanks

You'd need electronic diagnostics done to see where the fault is. If something has gone faulty then the light can't be switched off until the faulty component is repaired/replaced.
