And to think that this absolute filth was filmed in Ireland!

P.S. There's a dogfight over the Sugarloaf as I post this.

I'm still wondering how that towel stayed in place.

    :D

No, some WWI film on RTE 2. May or maynot have been vital to the script.

Some WWI film? Do you mean The Blue Max, shot entirely on location in Ireland?

    Mmmmm, Ursula Undress...

War movies do catch RTE out, Force 10 From Navarone is another one, Barbara Bach in the tin bath. Alas ITV have a special boob-free edit on hand for when they screen it.

I wonder what an alien species looking at this forum would surmise about the human race.

They'd probably be over on the RTE player gawmping at Ursula Andress' tits!

I met an ex british ww1 soldier who told me a great yarn. He returned to Ireland to live out his life in a cottage up at glendalough. He drove up from the ferry but wanted to rest at sugarloaf on a beautiful afternoon. He fell asleep and was awoken by low flying aircraft. Can you imagine how he felt when looked up to see ww1 german fighters screaming across the sky?

    Ursula Andress's boob?

    Don't remember that.

I'm glad someone else missed it - I've seen it a few times and even have the dvd. Makes me wonder what else I've missed out on over the years..........

Back in 1978 when there weren't as many other channels
wasn't this shown after the six o'clock news, peek viewing time

    http://www.rte.ie/tv/scannal/scannalthespike.html
In 1978, RTE launched a 10 part drama series which was destined to become front page news. It raised uncomfortable issues about inequality in the Irish education system and in Irish society in general. It also featured the first ever naked Irish woman filmed by and shown on the national broadcasting service.
The series was called The Spike and it was axed by RTE after the fifth episode.

    ....

The Spike finally foundered on the rock of Episode 5. This episode dealt with adult evening classes and it featured an art class involving a nude model. Although tastefully shot, the producer's brave decision to show the nude model sounded the death knell for the series. Once actress Madelyn Erskine cast off her clothes, The Spike was doomed.

I remember that, the biggest non-event controversy ever in RTE.
In 1978 RTE began a series set in a tough Dublin school. One critic wrote that RTE had finally "found the magic formula for successful comedy". Except The Spike wasn't meant to be a comedy, it was merely so bad it was brilliant.

When Episode 5 contained the briefest flash of nudity in a real-life art class, the chairman of the League Of Decency had a heart attack while phoning the papers to complain.

One week on, just hours before Episode 6 was to air, RTE "deferred" the rest of the series, which has never been seen since. The deferral came too late for one of the actors who required medical treatment after he was, as the Evening Press elegantly put it, "thumped by a fat elderly lady".

I remember a few years ago TG4 had Cliffhanger on at around 4 in the afternoon.

The violence and swearing was a delightful way to start the evening.

To what do you refer to?
On what programme were these knockers featured?
