My guacamole recipe is something of a favourite among my friends (it gets hidden at house parties so nobody else can have any lol) Not sure if you guys will like it but here is the recipe all the same

Blend 2 or 3 really ripe avocados with about half a bulb of garlic minced ( i love garlic so I like it really really garlicky) the juice of half a lemon, salt and pepper and tobasco sauce to taste (i sometimes put a minced fresh chilli in if i want it extra spicy). Then add 1-2 tablespoons of extra light mayo. Makes it really smooth and creamy. This makes quite a lot but you can adjust the recipe for less avocados and all you have to point is the avocados themselves and the extra lite mayo which is pretty low, think even at 2 tbs its only an extra point for the whole recipe. Also if you keep one of the seeds from the avocados and put it in the bowl with it while storing it will keep pretty well for a couple of days without discoloring!

Look at you!!! all the tips!!! I like that idea with the stone from the avocado... I heard before about lemon juice but I suppose that will mess with the flavour. Thats a good recipe.... I think I will use that tonight... :D I don't have tobasco... but might add a little piri piri...just for a kick... I am obsessed with that at the moment... :D

    Thanks TinyPenguin!!! :D

Well so well would not be exactly correct haha, relatively well would be more like it haha.

You know I don't know why I thought I needed a slimed down version of guacamole! Sure it's only the avocado that has points! So I would use avocado, finely chopped red onion, chili, garlic, tomatoes. lime juice, salt, black pepper & coriander! Yeay! :D

Sooo hungry now. Have soup with me that I'm kinda sick of now coz I've had it all week, but I must resist straying with the looming WI later on!

WI this evening - am feckin starving! The person that usually comes with me to WW (we started around the same time) has decided not to go anymore - which is a bit of a nuisance, because it was great to have someone to talk to about it. Thank god for this forum! Best of luck to anyone else with WI this evening, & good luck Baileypants!

    Hi Folks,

I am on weight watchers with my wife. We are not attending weigh ins or going to sessions but we are keeping track of each others weight and food intake. My wife has done weight watchers before so she knows the ins and outs etc. My wife is doing well and has lost 3 pounds so far, i on the other hand am just starting to keep track of food intake before i start measuring weight (starting off weight it 14st 7lbs, looking to get it below 14st).
One thing that my wife has on her iphone is a food points calculator and appwhich tracks her food intake points for the day, how many she has left etc. etc. I dont have a smart phone but i am looking to get the same thing just for my computer in work (where i keep my food diary) does anyone have a link to something like this please? (preferably free!!!)

    thanks,

    burger

WI today and Down 1 happy it's a loss but I put so much effort in exercising and tracking I was a bit disappointed it wasn't more esp as my wii said I was 4 down this morning. So I've gotten a new scales that measures water and fat etc and have started measuring my self as well see if that shows more progress.
I'm worried that as my weight loss is slow but normally steady it could take 12 weeks or more to shift the pounds put on over Christmas and I was hoping with exercising more and tracking more I would do better :( I will get there eventually

Ah you will get there, one week isn't too much in the grander scheme of things. Keep at it and you know that you will loose overall ;) There is no quick fix as they say. Slow & steady wins the race, and you're more inclined to keep it off then too :)

Hi everyone, just wondering did your leaders give you a goal weight at your first weigh in or when did they give it to ye? I had my 6th weigh in yesterday and she still hasnt said anything to me! I see in the book that for someone who is 5ft 7, like me, depending on BMI it could be anywhere between 9 st 2 and 11st 6! disappointed because I only lost a pound this week after lowering my propoints, but think my body is adjusting to my new eating pattern and the weight loss has slowed down a bit! had to happen sooner or later!! :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 440 ✭✭Taz1

Stayed the same weight this week, lost nothing over the week :( its the first week since I've joined that I haven't lost anything. Anyone know why this might be? Majorly disappointed!!

Thought I had a great week, tracked everything and... sts again :( So now I'm in WW for 2 weeks and havent lost anything so really fed up. Just got my period today and my leader said thats why. But I'm so unmotivated right now and worried it will be the same next week :(

What are you eating and how much exercise! I know how disheartening it is to not see the results you want! but there is always a reason.

Welcome! I started two weeks ago and can feel the difference already. My points are very high too .. 41, but some days you might actually use them all, especially if you are used to eating large portions or sweet foods etc. You will be surprised how quickly the points add up. The trick is opting for the lower fat versions and recording EVERYTHING that you eat. If you don't have an electronic weighing scales I recommend getting one.

I lost 1.5 this week so I am getting there!!

I was v good with food, almost nothing processed, lots of veg, tracked everything. I went running 3 times across the week, 11 miles in total. I thought I had done really well :-( Hopefully my leader is right and next week is better.

Some leaders don't set the goal straight away as they don't want you to be daunted by the end goal. My leader initially told me to focus on 1 stone and then after that another 7lbs and so on. You should have an idea of what weight you'd like to be. Mini goals are better for keeping you focused :)

I would advise you to keep a food diary this week with everything you eat and drink in it. If you don't have a loss next week ask your leader to go through it with you to see if she can offer any advice!

This happens to me all the time, I'm a pro at STS at this stage :p

You said it's the first time it's happened since you joined. Are you at it long. I'm wondering as if you have been doing the same thing for a number of weeks i.e eating all the same foods, doing the same amount of exercise?

If this is the case mix it all up. Change alot of foods and try some new ones. Have bigger meal as in dinner at lunch or a big breakfast. If you always walk, go swimming or cycling. You may need to shock the body back into it.

You could also be being too good and if your not using all of your points your body is hanging onto it. Also go back to scratch and start weighing and portioning food again. You hvae no idea how easy it is for the hand to slip when pouring/measuring and they all add up.

    Hope some of this helps!

I think I'm going to ask my leader to look at mine as I think I'm losing my mind sometimes. I write down everything even the exercise I do daily and still not having great results  I even weigh out everything....even though I have an idea of the amounts of stuff.

They say it all the time so I'm sure they won't mind

the way you have to look at it is you are staying the same, so that means you are not gaining...so you are doing something right... you won't know yourself in a few weeks when your body gets used to the new regieme....

    dont be hard on yourself....

I think % body fat for women should be 10-13% and men 2-5% and water is 60% for men and 55% for women.

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows of any links that have a recipe for a beef stir fry.

Looked through all the pro points booked from the classes but only can find a turkey one.

It's not something I would usually cook or eat but have stir fry beef in the freezer for ages so thought I may as well use it & try something different.

    Thanks in advance

    hey guys
i've just been reading your posts on staying the same and i completely emphatise with you it's a bummer when you feel like you've put in the effort. If you're new to this maybe your body is just getting used to the programme and (the shock of healthy living) but sometimes it just takes a few weeks to see results, i started with pro points last year and lost 1 miserly pound in 3 weeks and was gutted having followed everything to the letter and tracked and weighed like mad but the next week i used all my weeklies which i hadn't been using up til then and lo and behold after what i thought was my worst week i was down 3.5lb so give it time. the other thing is you have to be totally totally honest with yourself and write everything down no guessing cos sometimes you can be way out with portions etc. the other thing which really seems to make a difference with me is drinking water as the weeks i make an effort i do well. This week i've been trying the water with sugar free squash and hot water and found it much easier to drink. Anyway hope some of this helps

That's essential fat. Not Ideal body fat. Only peak bodybuilders would have that low a body fat and even then just for a very short period of time (1 or 2 days before a competition).

Average Body fat is 18-24% for men and 25-31% for women.

    See here: http://www.builtlean.com/2010/08/03/ideal-body-fat-percentage-chart/
