A phone call to the Apple Store and also to O2 Store in Victoria Sq Belfast reveals both have a plentiful supply of iP4S.
Calls to five Dublin based O2 shops reveal none have stock and some haven't had stock for weeks. Ditto Vodafone shops. No surprise there then!
Crap stock levels and crap plans. The rip off continues.......

iPhone in the O2 store in Belfast will be locked to O2 UK, so no use to you down here ;)

Correct. If I buy in Belfast it will be in Apple store.

My reference to O2 store Victoria Sq was a reflection of stocks levels in Belfast V's zero stock levels in Dublin.

Sold out in IE, not sold out UK. Someone got their Maths wrong in Apple.

Apple Ireland and Apple UK are two totally separate arms of Apple. They have different HQs and Management. Their inventory, sales channels are totally separate.

comparing Apple Store Belfast's stock with an independent O2 store south of the border is a folly.

I think I understand where OP is coming from.

The Republic of Ireland is a much larger market than Northen Ireland.

You'd think they would have as much or more stock here than up there. After all they wouldn't be many coming over from mainland UK to buy iPhones up north.

No, Apple Ireland is the European HQ for Apple. WebSales, customer service, tech support, logistics etc is all controlled in Ireland. The retail stores are kept separate alright.
