if i point an 80 cm satellite dish at 28e for freesat can i pick up 13e with a second lnb, how difficult would it be if the sat is aimed at 28e

Too far apart for this type of thing.

As Tony said but make sure dish suits any LNB bracket.

Monoblocks should not be used in Ireland. The Spacing is usually wrong.

They are designed for specific pairs of Satellites, usually in Germany.
The same satellites have different apparent spacing according to your location.
The actual LNB spacing also varies with Dish type (F/D ratio).
They are inflexible in terms of adding extra outputs or extra satellite positions.

Tony's solution is correct. Though for Ireland mount the bracket upside down so more tilt is possible.

I dont have any dish yet, just at the investigation stage, interested in learning about diy job, if i was to set up dish as described above, should i maximize the focus on 28e as that would be my main source, and then play around with the second lnb in terms of skew etc to locate 13 e or indeed other sats nearby

I usually put 13 directly beside the centre arm and 28 almost at the end of the bar . Remember the dish acts like a mirror when you shine a light so the lnb placement will be the opposite to its position in the sky.

    Hi folks

Just wanted to butt in at this point and ask what is probably a stupid question. Im completely aware that Monoblock LNB's are no good for 28.2 and any 19.2 or 13 - obviously too far apart - but what about a single LNB for 28.2, And a Monoblock with 6deg seperation for 19.2 & 13? If you had an 80cm or 90cm dish that ought to work surely -

This is one area im fairly new on - that is multiple LNB dishes - i was thinking of doing something like this in the summer - today in truth i am just giving myself a break from revision so dont kill me if im wrong with the above suggestion!!!

I suppose its probably pointless as your undoubtedly better off with two LNB's instead - i was only thinking it might be easier for a novice to try this method - would the skew be off in Ireland perhaps? (Total mind wandering, please dont kill me! lol :-)

Sic semper tyrannis - thus always to Tyrants

As Watty pointed out monoblocks don't work well in Ireland beacuse we are so far west the separation is incorrect usually.

Also unless the receiver supports cascaded Diseqc it's impossible to add a 3rd LNB as the Disqec switch is integrated inside the dual horn LNBF. Monoblocks are for specific markets. Like 23.5 + 19 or 13 +19 in Germany.

Left to Right (because of "mirror" action)

    28E, 19E, 13E and 9E with dish aligned without adaptor on 16E

With an un-modified bracket the dish would be pointed at 19E to get that spread.

(I added a hole about 3cm off centre so that 19E and 13E would be equal strength and either side of arm)
