Maybe i should have put a wee smiley face so you could see the sarcasm in the post then.

The same word repeated a few times in this is 'perceived'. It's taken long enough for so called experts and jobsworths to decide what is and what isn't sectarian over in Scotland just now, and many of them are still at a loss. Think as far as they've got so far is don't call each other huns and fenians, (though you can call yourselfs it if you want) and to be fair I think that has followed suit in the threads which is a compliment to all the posters in here and next door :) So apart from me calling someone a 'hun', how else will you or someone else decide that what i'm saying is bigotted or sectarian?? If i decide to talk about Celtic's history and heritage and roots in Ireland, will that be termed in the good or bad? Not everyone will agree with it and say well you're a Scottish club. If someone comes back and says your a 'plastic Paddy', is his response to my post going to be moved to the other thread???

You mean well and good luck Dempsey, we'll agree to disagree though.

PS, This isn't just to you Dempsey, I'm asking this to anyone else who might be able to give some clues as to where a new thread for such a matter will take us. If everyone else is all for it then I understand wholly.
    Is everyone else for it???

    Ah, I see!

It takes quite a few posts for people to establish what they believe to be sectarian/bigotted and by then several people can be posting and 20-100 posts could go by without a mention of football. I just think a thread to facilitate that discussion properly rather than it happening across 2 threads would be better.

Again, all of that hasnt been discussed or thrashed out. It hasnt gotten to that stage yet. But my thinking would be:-

If a discussion descends into discussing sectarianism/bigotry, a moderator can use his discretion whether to lock the thread whilst moving the conversation over the other thread, let it run its course then move it, or in some cases just leave it be. A mod will know the minute he looks at where the conversation is going.

People that attempt to 'snipe' in either of the the superthreads about sectarian/bigoted incidents rather than going to the thread would be the ones that would get the moderators wrath imo.
Isn't it kinda ironic that possibly 20-100 posts have gone by here without much mention of football, because a discussion of sectarianism is going on? Why don't you start another thread on it and get a general consensus??
If you can, will you also tell me what Sectarian acts Celtic and their fans are involved in. We are in the Celtic thread after all.

How dare rival fans 'snipe' at eachother, now we're going to suffer the wrath of a moderator.

'Hun' is not sectarian (if it was then how come you guys used to call us the 'huns'? and how come every other team in Scotland calls you guys 'huns'?)

    Orangeism is not a religion.

Bobby calling us Orange Bastards is sectarian as the OO is part of the Protestant faith
As for Hun I proved it was and still is sectarian after the last Rangers Celtic game but you decided to ignore it

Also if it was only us you called huns then just maybe you could get away with it but the fact you use the term against Hearts and Kilmarnock fans as well puts an end to that

If you don't believe me go and shout at a Scottish policeman that Rangers fans are huns you will soon see if its sectarian or not

Nice to see James Forrest get mentioned in a FIFA list of young players to watch in 2012. The guy has a bright future ahead.
    James Forrest
    Winger, 20, Celtic
This old-fashioned winger, described by manager Neil Lennon as Celtic’s “baby-faced assassin”, has been the Scottish Premier League’s outstanding player this season. National manager Craig Levein and performance director Mark Wotte have both predicted a bright international career, with the latter lauding the speedy and skilful Forrest as “a light in the darkness” in Scottish football.

Wrong way around - the OO is not part of the Protestant faith BBE. Being Protestant is simply an entry requirement to the OO.

The OO is a disgrace to Protestantism.

(That's my last on the matter, sorry I should have posted it in the other thread).

We're going to be a fight in future to keep a hold of him, that's for sure. Wonder how long we'll get out of him?

He's been fantastic for us this season, and is definitely part of the reason we're now top of the league.

Why didn't you just delete it before clicking 'post'? By other thread does that mean there is now a new thread up and running??
If I wanted to bring up rangers fans singing about Celtic Boys Club at the recent Celtic rangers game would that go in here, next door or the new sectarian thread?

Yeah I'm sure there are plenty of teams keeping tabs on him but I think if we can keep him happy, reward him correctly as he progresses we should be able to hold onto him for a few more seasons.

He doesn't seem the type to throw his toys out or to get his head turned by the first club to pay him some attention but you never know.

Who's fault is that? I'm only answering questions that are being put to me. Maybe you should have taken this to PMs much earlier if you were so concerned about dragging the thread offtopic. How many times does it have to be said that it hasnt gotten to the stage of getting a general consensus. You are the one that has jumped the gun on this, not me or anybody else.

What are you on about? Delete what?

I responded to the post because I couldn't let the misinformation go. In future that stuff should be in the new thread though (which I assume it will be).

It's not hard Lubo, if it's about singing, tax cases etc., it would go in the off-field thread. If it's football related, in here (or in the Rangers thread) is where it would go.

Sorry for asking questions about something. If not done properly then it will fall at first hurdle, so am only asking questions that i would have doubts about.
Again, where would the talk about the chef or tax case go? Isn't the tax case ultimately about the football??

On field - this thread - Superthread Celtic FC Team Talk/Gossip/Rumours Thread 2011/2012 - football / Player related

Off field - new thread - Superthread Celtic / Rangers - off field Matters - Tax / Singing etc.

    Will this work?

I'm well aware of that, there is no point in having a consensus if the moderators wont even consider it. I was waiting for their feedback before doing anything else. I had no intention of clogging up this thread with a discussion about it.

    EDIT

I'm only after noticing the thread there now.

I agree with you about the need for a separate thread, however naming it as that other one was is just going to lead to a train wreck of a thread and it'll end up locked

What about an SPL discussion thread, where that sort of thing could be discussed without it inviting trouble?

    Stokes ready for Saints' trip
By: Laura Brannan on 18 Jan, 2012 09:53
THE last time Celtic took on St Mirren, they recorded the highest scoring victory of their season so far, but Anthony Stokes, who speaks exclusively in this week’s Celtic View, isn’t expecting five goals again on Saturday.

This time the Hoops travel to Paisley for the clash against Danny Lennon’s side and if the last two away games are anything to go by, it will be a tight and nervy meeting.

A last-minute strike by Gary Hooper sealed the points in 2010, while two early goals by the same man secured the win earlier this season, despite an extremely spirited Saints display in the last 80 minutes.

Stokes is looking forward to the battle nonetheless and hopes to join his strike partner in the scoring this time.

The Irish striker told the View: “It’s always a tough game against St Mirren, especially away from home.

“Last year we had to wait until the 90th minute or so to get the winner. They are usually well-organised and we’ll have to be on top form to get a result against them again.

“I’ve not scored against St Mirren so that would be another box to tick off if I was to get a goal, but that’s not the important thing, we have to just make sure we get the three points firstly.”

And one player Stokes knows Celtic will have to be wary of is former-Hoops youngster and December Player of the Month, Paul McGowan.

“I wasn’t here when he was at Celtic but I’ve seen him play and I know he is a good player,” he said. “He scored against Rangers too but hopefully he won’t do the same against us.”

Now you see it, now you don't. Who locked it and why??

I knew a thread would be locked, I knew that knives would come out from those who dont like Celtic/Rangers/SPL and they would be doing their best to derail a thread created out of the blue. Thats why I contacted the moderators first for their feedback before trying to get a general consensus with other posters. They need to be the ones setting the thread up and outlining the rules (whatever gets decided) with that thread to make it work. I think I stated my intended approach about 5+ times at this stage.

You and celticbest clearly are intent on undermining the idea and my approach. I couldnt give a **** what happens now, I've better things to be doing.

Well that other thread went well didnt it?:) Daft idea imo and merely reinforces the view that other clubs fans have about us being obsessed with religion, songs etc etc.

Agree with all of that. It was so predictable earlier, all the posters who never (or rarely at best) post in either the Celtic or Rangers threads were giving it loads. Usual trainwreck and they give it they "I told you so". I hope the mods take a look at who actually ruined that thread.

I don't think celticbest was undermining the idea at all, was he not supportive of it? Don't get pissed off about it, a good few posters from here and across the road were behind the idea.

As I said myself in that thread, a new thread like that needs a few days for the nuggets to get used to it, and then it would have been grand. There were plenty of nuggets on it earlier, and none of them were Celtic or Rangers fans.

It should have been left to settle down imo.

Now we'll just have to get used to both original threads being filled up with tax cases, songs and poppies.

I don't know celticbest, and whatever you think he's upto then carry on. I have no intention to undermine your approach; what I've said is I disagree with it, mainly as I don't know if I'm going to get into trouble/sanctioned/warned/banned if I start talking about 'the chef' or the tax case but I put it in the Rangers thread rather then the new one. They aren't sectarian issues (well is the chef??) but still something that is out in the open to be discussed. I said in an earlier post to you that I wish you well with it, but it's not for me.
