To be fair, I know a lot of straight men find the thoughts of two men having sex repulsive. It doesn't mean they are necessarily homophobic.

Well, as much as straight men say they find gay sex repulsive.

For a lot of men, I imagine the repulsion is as much because they feel they should be repulsed as anything else. There are plenty of straight men who aren't weirded out by a bit of gay affection. That doesn't make them in any way less straight.

As an act itself it's no worse than straight sex.

I don't find it repulsive at all. The only thing that I'd be thinking about would be the fact that I wasn't able to "get up", so to speak. I do admire women, but not in a sexual way really. I'd feel as though I was humping a dry mattress. I don't think many people would be "repulsed" by the thought of having to hump a mattress.

I think that the only "repulsion" straight men have to gay sex is the idea of being rejected by society and their peers if it turned out that they actually liked it. In hindsight, the repulsion lies with the fear of being gay. In reality, I'd say most straight men would feel the same about having sex with another man as I would having sex with a women; humping a dry mattress.

The idea for me of having sex with a man isn't repulsive. I'm just apathetic. Like, why would I want to be going doing that? The male body, no matter what form I see it in, is not something that is attractive to me, at all. I'm not grossed out by it (although I'm sure being faced with a real penis and being expected to do something with it would probably freak me out...) but it's just not something I'd ever consider.

To me, so much would be missing in what I find attractive, because there's more than mere mechanics- smell (men smell odd), everything is hard (HO HO!), the noises would be very different, as would taste...

No. It wouldn't make me gag at the thought of it, and I'm open to the idea of fancying a guy sometime, if that's what happens.

I think what I'm trying to say is that the thought of sex with a man for me, is basically a big fat meh.

I'd find the thought of sex with some women repulsive, just as I would find the thought of sex with some men repulsive! (And I'm a gay man).

I have never had sex with a woman, I have slept with women but I could not perform. It just didn’t feel right and on each occasion I made my excuses. I was not repulsed by the act or the women, I just wasn't aroused.
Id imagine the same would be true for straight guys, society doesn’t expect them to get together, so the lightly hood of it happening under duress (fitting in with the norm) is very slim and why would they bother, if they weren’t aroused and inclined to do so to start with!?

I've had sex with several (ok, two) women and I don't find it repulsive.

I think it is a cultural/political/learned phenomenon, much like campness is. In times when homosexuality was heavily repressed, the vast majority of gay men went on to marry, and had sex with their wives (at least just enough times to have children) without throwing up in the process. Later, when the prevailing notion became "different, but equal" I suppose a lot more gay men would say that they'd never ever do "it" with a woman. They're gay after all! And finally when public acceptance of gay people reaches a certain level and there's no longer any need to differentiate ourselves, the attitude to sex with an opposite sex goes back to normal — the "yeah, I could do it but what's the point?" type of thing.

Personally, I don't know if many gay people nowadays who'd be afraid of the ramification of being viewed as a "straight guy/girl" in the eyes of their peers or society. I think that society, in general, is caring less and less about sexuality, which is a great thing, in my opinion.

I think the premise of your question is flawed. Some gay men are unable to perform with a woman, others can. Just because some find they are not sexually attracted to women doesn't mean they find it repulsive.

Most people are somewhere on the spectrum of sexuality, and few are 100% straight or 100% gay.

I would not be repulsed, but then again I have no problem admiring a stunning woman (in my experience, expressing admiration for the physical attributes of the opposite sex never seems to be a problem for gay men, but is for some gay women).

I just wouldn't want to go there and do the deed with the girl but I suspect my level of discomfort is less than that of a totally straight man thinking about having sex with another man.

I would also personally feel more repulsed by a person with both breasts and a penis than one with breasts and a vagina.

very repulsed doesn't make me homophobic at all, i respect people who are gay and all that i dont have a problem with what people decide to do but the actual taught of 2 men having anal sex is stomach turning for me but what goes on in the bedroom is private between a couple.

its just a personal opinion so dont attack me if you dont like it.

I think using the term "repulsed" is a bit strong. Like lots of posters have said, if you don't like the idea of two people having sex, whoever they are, doesn't make you homophobic or heterophobic. (Is that a word? I don't know.)

Often when I'm out I'll notice really attractive girls. I can appreciate boobs, ass, legs, all that. But I must admit that vaginas scare me a bit!

(Genitalia in general are pretty ugly for both sexes, tbh. If we were "intelligently designed" I'd like to think our creator could have come with something better looking for down there!)

I've always thought of myself as being bi, even though the balance has swung very strongly towards me being gay in the past few years. I still don't know what to call myself. Thing is, I'm too scared to chat people up (male or female) and have never actually done anything with a woman before. So I don't know for certain how I'd find it. I definitely wouldn't be repulsed but I can't say for definite if I'd enjoy it. Or if it would even work; the fear of not "getting it up" may strike!

So I guess I won't know until/unless it ever happens that I'm with a woman at some point. In which case, I'll report back and let you all know how it went! :pac:

Having only recently come out, I've done nothing with another male in my life, ever. Not even a circle jerk!!!:P

I've had girlfriends and one-night-stands in the past, and while I did enjoy them all as an experience, there was something that left me feeling empty, unfulfilled and ultimately joyless. I believe that I had girlfriends and slept around when I was younger (I'm 23 now) so that I would appear 'normal' and be one of the lads.

None of my relationships with a girl lasted very long, longest one was six months. They all ended as I became more and more unattentive as time went on, and I honestly feel that I was deliberately doing so because I was subconsciously afraid that they would find out my true sexuality if we stayed together longer.

Sex with a woman does not repulse me at all, even now. I would still be able to perform, I'm sure, but I don't think I would enjoy it as much as I "should" (for obvious reasons). I'd say a lot of gay guys are in the same boat, tbh.

It seems to me that you're just repulsed by anal sex in general. I mean I wouldn't consider that unusual; many people, even some gay men, don't like that idea of anal sex. The thing that must be stressed here is that gay sex (between men) doesn't necessarily have to be anal sex.

Being asexual the idea of having sex with a man or a woman isn't repulsive to me, just not something I'm particularly into.

Granted, I'll do it if I'm smitten with the person, I enjoy physical intimacy (although I'd be happy just to cuddle) but the sexual aspect just doesn't interest me really.

So I'd imagine it'd be the same for someone who is not sexually attracted to a specific gender. Then again, everyone's different!

That's pretty unfair to men :rolleyes: I hate this attitude that if straight men aren't 100% comfortable or even turned on to the idea of gay sex then they must be in denial. Some straight men simply find the idea unpleasant. I don't think that's homophobic. And I don't think so long as someone has a hole and a pulse a man will shag it.

i slept with girls in my trying to be straight years. sleeping with them wasnt the problem, but i cant see myself maintaining a healthy relationship with a girl, even though for ages i convinced myself i was going to have the wife, 3 kids and a dog in the suburbs. id be going behind her back, couldnt do that to a girl.
