Moving to Belgium, bank account ?

Hello, I am currently doing research on the possibility of moving to Belgium in the future. Has anyone here had experience of opening a current account over there and can this be done prior to departure and setting up home there ?

There should be no need for you to open an account in Brussels. With the Single Euro Payments Area it is now possible to continue to operate with your Irish bank account. You can have your salary paid into the account and you can set up direct debits and have full access to ATM / POS with you Irish banks debit card.
