No luck setting up the DNS thing with my Wii. Changed the settings on the wii, deleted the save data/channel, and redownloaded and all. Shows up as working when i check it via the browser on the Wii. But an error in the app "Unable to connect to netflix"

Seems to be working on my mac though, any ideas?

You also need to change the country setting on the Wii, but it won't allow you to set it to United States... so unless you mod the Wii, that's the end of that AFAIK.

Hmm, i am soft modded but that doesn't sound like such a safe idea...especially after looking it up.
Any idea whether you need to change country for the app to work, or just so you can download the US version of the app?

Sign up on the home page with just your email address.

    http://unblock-us.com/

    Follow the steps described here:

    http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/291585

The values for the IP address, gateway and Network prefix length are already (in grey) in their respective boxes but you have to re-type them. Obviously you need to be careful you do not make a mistake here as I did about 3 times! When you type in the new DNS servers, the "Save" button will become active and you click it.

Open the Chrome browser on the Revue and type in "http://check.unblock-us.com/" into the address bar. You will then be asked for your email address and on the next page you will get a message saying that "Your trial is active". Any error message here means you have made a mistake changing the network settings.

Re-open the Netflix app and you should be in Netflix-US.

    Thanks

I changed from DHCP to Static on the Revue internet settings, overtyped everything as is, & changed the 2 DNS settings as per the required 208.122.23.22 etc.

When I hit Save, it brings me back to the Connection status screen, & these changes result with 'Ethernet - Not Connected'.

So I can't go to Chrome & us-unblock as these changes disconnect me from the net. Help !

Possibly, I'm not sure. The US version is NTSC, maybe that's why the version we get won't connect.

Got the US Netflix working with my Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray player.

Did a custom network setup on the Bluray player to add the unblockus DNS settings and get the Netflix app. I then had a lot of grief trying to input the activation code into my Netflix account always getting an error message.

Eventually I downloaded the hidemyass app to Google Chrome and got it to work.

Picture quality is excellent IMO and plays smoothly with no buffering.

    The Samsung app is amazing.

I changed my region and downloaded the US channel. Im certain you at least need the US channel, not sure if you explicitly need to set the country to the US. But what you definitely need to do is change the output of the wii to NTSC or you'll just get a black screen when you run it.

First three seasons of Breaking Bad are there!! Impressive seeing as no Irish or UK station showed the third season and wasn't even released on DVD here! It has a great selection of older titles but very few newer titles, as what was expected! Not sure its worth €6.99 yet, but will hopefully shake Sky up.

I signed up for the free trial with Netflix last night specifically to watch Breaking Bad Season 3 - it's not there, only 1 & 2 . Is anyone else able to get Season 3 on the standard Ireland Netflix website? I haven't done any VPN/unblocking black magic & I'm not that keen to go down that (technically illegal :P) road...

Only the first two seasons are on the Irish site. Three seasons on the US site.

Season 3 isn't available in Ireland on DVD.

Must have something to do with it.

This is the tutorial I followed assuming the wii is modded. If not he links to his modding guide. If you modded elsewhere be sure to install the cios file he links to, seems important.
ARC lets you change the output of the wii to ntsc too, you'll need to do that.

I'm no master at this stuff and you'd probably be better off asking questions if you have any on wiihacks or the console modding forum on boards. The wii I had was semi-broken (disk drive no longer works) so I didn't care if I bricked it.

+1 this. I made this mistake in assuming that the IP adress and gateway that were suggested were correct values for my home network so I just typed over using the same values suggested, e.g. the revue suggested 192.168.1.24 as a statiic IP but my IP range on my router is 192.168.0.x and the gateway suggested was 192.168.1.1 where as it should have been 192.168.0.1

Once I corrected, all worked fine on US netflix.

    Hi Do-more,

How did you get the Netflix app to appear on the BDP-S370? I have the BDP-S480 and the Netfilx app had not appeared on it (as of last Friday anyway!)

I've been using the US Netflix on my ps3 with the US unblock trial for 3 days now. Today I tried to login 5 times and it said error go to netflix.com/tvhelp. Eventually it worked.

Is the Unblock trial essential for tricking netflix? I thought I saw someone say they just changed their DNS settings.

It's only a US Netflix app on mine, I got it up by putting the unblockus DNS settings into the Bluray player.

Okay ive gone through the 38 pages here and still no answer.

I want to use Netflix on PS3 using unblock.us

I have a Thomspon router from UPC?Do i have to change the settings on this? Ive searched on the router page and there is no option to change DNS?

On Playstation3 i followed instructions and when I got to the page to change the values of Primary and Secondary DNS...It wont leave the page..Seems it wants me to enter in IP address as well :(...How do i get round this?

Any simplified solution would be great :)

Sounds similar to what I had to do to set up my Sony Bluray player.

I went to my routers web page and got the ip address there that was assigned to the player and manually entered it.

I also had to check via the cmd prompt on my pc what the settings were for the sub net mask and gateway (Google is your friend)

All worked fine for me then.

You don't touch your router - you put in the primary and secondary DNS numbers into your PS3 and you can leave the page - it's how I have the US netflix.

Okay but it wont let you leave the page unless everything is typed in..ie IP address etc which was 0.0.0.0 when i went on the page.

    thanks for any help :D:D

On my PS3 there are no other spaces to type in an IP address or anything on the DNS screen. Just Primary and Seconday DNS so I'm not really sure what you are doing?

When you go into the settings on the PS3 does it show them filled in? If so just take them down and write them back in the same.

If not, one idea I can think of is get to your pc (that is connected to the network wired or wirelessly) and if in xp select start, run and type "cmd" (without the commas obviously) and hit enter. If you have windows 7 press start and in the "search for programs and files type "cmd" and hit enter.

Eitherways you should be looking at the daunting text based command prompt. Type in "ipconfig" (again, no inverted commas) and hit enter. Scroll up and you should see:
    IPv4 address 192.168.xxx.xxx
    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 192.168.xxx.xxx

Where x's are numbers. Note yours might be different than that but I doubt it. Anywho take these down and on your PS3 enter the subnet mask and gateway the exact same if it is asking for them. For the IP address leave the first 3 sets of numbers the same and change the last one to something higher e.g 15 or 25 (don't go too high!). That should do the trick.

(You might get an easier reply from someone that owns a PS3 and knows how to get it's IP but if youre stuck...)

Thanks guys - finally got it working on the Revue ! Indeed I was making the same wrong assumption.

US content is significantly better !

Just checked & the BBC iplayer works straight off too.

I didn't see any other options either. Put in the DNS and away I went. Had it working in about 20 seconds lol. The US version is alot better than the Irish version.
I'm gonna pay the 3.98 a month. Only a Tenner all in then a month.
