When I load up the BBC I player it brings me to a screen where it asks for my e-mail address and just seems to freeze, I can't even exit using th PS button and have to manually shut down, also, the itv player asks me for a postcode, but none of the uk ones I've entered seem to work - any ideas?

Yeah go into the browser on your PS3 and go to http://check.unblock-us.com/
and then enter your email address. That is assuming that you have already signed up for the free trial on unblock.us.

Same thing happened to me and that sorted it out.

Was on the US netflix last night (thanks to posts here) and I noticed that when I used the triangle (PS3) to search the site that there was a lot of extra content.

I watched the first two of the "The girl with the dragoon tattoo" trilogy even thought the didn't appear on the home screen of content, so there are not just 75 movies or tv shows available at any one time.

I found say for example all the star trek shows, all the stargate shows even the 6 series of Lost was available to watch.

Is there a difinitive answer yet folks, as in do we have to sign up to the unblock-us service or will we get cut off; as I never signed up for a free weeks trial.

Thanks. I followed all the instructions to add the unblock.us proxy. Rebooted, seemed fine. Changed my itunes location to US. It informs me my itunes account is only suitable for purchases in Ireland and signs me out, whatever - shouldn't matter right?

Created my US netflix account by going through hidemyass.com.

Go back to Netflix on the ATV and try to login but it keeps kicking me back to the main menu - arggh.

    Anyone else get this?

I don't need to be signed into itunes at the same time do I? Because I'll need to create a US itunes account for that.

Did you have the Irish Netflix store working for you originally? You don't need to mess about with iTunes or set up an American account. Once you've changed the DNS settings you log in as normal into the account you set up in Ireland.
Once you have a Netflix account it works when you travel to other countries. It logs you onto their countries site when you are there. Changing the DNS makes Netflix think you are based in the States when logging in and brings up the US store. After the initial first log in, you won't have to enter your details again. Every time you enter Netflix, it will bring you to the US site, as long as the dns is active. .

No just realised there is an untethered 4.4.4 version with seasonpass now. Will try that thanks :-)

I'm on 4.2.2 or something like that, ie and old version and Netflix is showing on my ATV2, albeit not working but I'm sure others have it working on older software versions.

    yip had an Irish account.

So i set the DNS back to the automatic one. Tried to enter Netflix again and it worked fine (with the Irish catalogue).

Then went back, put in the DNS from unblock.us and when I try to enter Netflix it just kicks me back the main menu.

I'm using this DNS: 208.122.023.023 as per instructions here.

    Is that what you did?

I actually couldn't get Netflix working on my ATV2 , even with the Irish site. I'm using it on my PS3 and doing the equivelent of what you are doing above. I'd maybe suggest rebooting your ATV2 and then try Netflix again.

ah ok. Well then it's probably an ATV problem. But I reckon you'll need to update to 4.4.4 to get it working (even for the Irish version).

Ok got it working. Needed to set it up on another pc/iPad first to enable my free unblock.us trial.

So the US selection looks a lot better alright. Anywhere I can compare the 2? I've noticed already that the US catalogue does not have The Inbetweeners so I'm wondering if there's much else missing.

Seems this tread will roll to "using unblock-us" after trial week expires

Yeah, I never signed up for unblock-us with the ps3. just popped in the dns. why are people signing up for trials?

At some stage, unblock-us will block your access and a screen will come up asking you to enter your email to verify your account status. Obviously if you haven't signed up at that stage, you won't be able to go any further using those DNS settings or after the week trial if you haven't paid for the subscription.

No luck setting up the DNS thing with my Wii. Changed the settings on the wii, deleted the save data/channel, and redownloaded and all. Shows up as working when i check it via the browser on the Wii. But an error in the app "Unable to connect to netflix"

Seems to be working on my mac though, any ideas?
