You've got to think the 49ers will be delighted. Home game for the NFC championship for them.

The two hottest teams this year are out and in the year of greatest offense there's every chance of the two best defensive teams contesting the Superbowl. This is why it's the best professional league in the world. Crazy.

How is that not roughing the passer? He touched his helmet.

Packers looked lethargic and sloppy. But full credit to the Giants. The first team to win on the road in the playoffs. Should be two good games next week.

Green Bay have been unbelievably poor tonight. Fair play to the Giants.

I'm off to bed. Depression is setting in. It'll lift next September.

Kudos to the Giants. Their D played very well, and Manning had a field day.

At least I don't have to stay up until 2.30 next Monday morning.

Harbough Bowl all the way for me now!

The Packers were embarrassed tonight by the Giants. Losing 37-20 at home to a 9-7 team after going 15-1 for the regular season.

Fair play to the Giants though, thoroughly deserved it. Manning was very good, and the Defence came up time and again. Hard to explain why the Packers played so poorly - the week off? qualifying too early? Defenses working them out?

A great weekend of football, some great games. I personally didn't think the 49ers or the Giants would win.

I really hope my Ravens can get the win next weekend against the Patriots, but we need to sort that offense out big time. 14 of our points today came from awful Texans turnovers, New England won't be that generous. Brady is playing like he has a chip on his shoulder too which is very, very bad news for the opposition. We're also pretty average on the road.

The NFC game will be a cracker. Giants are motoring at the right time, and the 49ers have a superb defence. It's almost too close to call. The 49ers did win by 7 in the regular season though, whether that counts for anything is very debatable. Home advantage will win the day here IMO.

I'll go for a Patriots (:() V 49ers Super Bowl after originally predicting a Patriots V Packers Super Bowl prior to the first playoff game.

The Patriots will win it. How the hell has Jim Harbaugh managed to turn this 49ers team into contenders?

Whatever about our game next week. As much as I'd love to see Ray Lewis get to another Superbowl, I don't think they will move the ball near as well as NE. I think NE will have them by two scores.

I'd love to be proved wrong because at least one of the brothers deserves to be in the SB :pac:

Fancy the 49ers and the Pats next week.

Don't think the 49ers will make the mistakes that the Packers made and with home advantage I think they'll edge a hard hitting slobberknocker. Giants have a better QB and receivers but that 49ers defence is really impressive.

Think the Pats will do the Ravens. Ravens offence has been up and down and I'm not sure their defence is quite as good as advertised. Think the Pats will be able to move the ball on them. Houston were able to but the turnovers killed them.

The Ravens were given no chance going to New England two years ago. Written off completely.
Patriots with some incredible record at home that lasted for years and years

    Yet they won 33-14

I expect the same media coverage again this week, I'll be ignoring it :)

Just out of interest what do you all think about home field advantage still being in play at this stage of the competition?

Would it not be fairer to play these AFC/NFC championship games in a neutral venue, or would that not be feasible at all? Or should those with a better record be rewarded right up until the Super Bowl game?

    System ain't broke

Niners and Patriots are the highest seeded teams left and they deserve their home field advantage

Perfect the way it is really. I can't how a neutral venue would work out, to much of logistical head ache really.

Harbaugh inherited a very talented defense and an offense with a very good running game. Being a QB himself he added a tinge of confidence that's turned Smith from a liability into a QB that they can trust in big moments. That's basically it. The 49ers were horribly mis-manged the last few years and it masked the talent they have at alot of positions, Harbaugh was smart enough to use his pieces correctly.

If you played well enough during the year you deserve some form of reward, think it's the right way and shouldn't be changed!

Logistics for the teams would be handy...be a nightmare for fans!

He, like his brother, is an absolute genius. The pieces were there too to be fair.

Also, fair play to the giants, amazing performance, brilliant in the playoffs yet again. Ya cant spell believe without Eli.

For fans and NFL. Firstly it could only be a central venue, then the problem is what happens if you pick a venue and that teams makes it to the championship?

Worth a quick look, they'll change as the week goes on

    NE: 2.38
    SF: 4.33
    NYG: 4.5
    Bal: 7.5

For neutral venues they'd only be able to decide on them at this stage...which would be too late...so it really isn't possible!
