This is a follow up to my other thread. We have now narrowed it to these two cars but for the life of me cznt decide which one to go for.
the s-max has a bigger boot as i see it.the verso seems slightly cheaper.

what would you recommend and what specs to go for with each car?
    budget £10-15K.

    thanks in advance.

I have an 08 S-Max 2.0 Zetec, and I'm very happy with it. The only thing the Titanium had that I wanted was a better Sony sound system, so I specced that on the Zetec as an extra.

Wait, I also got rear window sunblinds as an option.

The Verso may be competitive when parked, but the S-Max is much better to drive.

I'm looking for an S-Max or Verso also at the moment. S-Max is clearly a better drive but make sure your other half test drives both, mine thought the Verso was seriously easier to drive as she felt the s-Max was too big and that she would have problems in parking and reversing. She felt it was too much like a mini bus. I thought the Verso was fine and ticked all the boxes.
I'll probably be going for a Verso but primarily because the OH finds it easier to drive and manouvere. I'll be looking at a 09 Verso 1.6l petrol. We do less than 15k (kms) a year so is there any benefit in a diesel ? - most of the 09's on sale around Cork seem to be petrol anyway.
Seen a few in Kearys I'm interested in - anything in particular to look out for in the 09 Verso?
    Any comments appreciated!

I am a confused person. went for test drive for both today. The verso is easier to drive whilst s-max felt too big for me(am a woman). at the same time the s-max is more roomy. my husband was in the middle seat(for both drives) and he felt the s-max was more comfortable if you are a passenger (hence my continued confusion).

S-Max. You'll get used to the size of it.

S-Max all the way. We have one a few years and love it. Great room, nice drive and very comfortable. Will be keeping it a long time and would go another down the road.

Get one with parking sensors back and front, and parking will be far easier.

The S-Max is really from the class above the Verso - Ford offers the C-Max to compete against that car, hence why it is a fair bit bigger.

Unfortunately it was only last year that Ford decided to offer the C-Max with a seven seat option (the Grand C-Max).

I'd still have the S-Max over the Toyota any day of the week.

The Gand Cmax is very nice indeed but it is more of a 6 seater as the middle seat really is way too small to be considered a seat. It is however very handily folded and stored in to the seat next to it, thus providing a walkway into the 2 rearmost seats - very handy. Also it has sliding doors, which can be seen as a huge advantage.

Also had a recent decision on which of these two cars to upgrade to, from a C-Max.
Ignoring all other points like financials, fuel economy etc etc, quite simply the mid row on the Verso was just not wide enough, it cannot take 3 baby seats, whereas the S-Max can.
Also the rear 'boot' space with the last row lowered is significantly more in the S-Max.
Have the S-Max two months now and all positive so far, you get used to the size quickly. Only negative is no spare wheel with the S-Max.
    S-Max all the way!!!

    1/. I need a big car. Looking at 2.

2/. The smaller car isn't as good to drive, or as roomy, but is easier to park, because it's smaller.

    3/. See 1/. above.

    Bizzare.

Not sure about that to be honest. I'm not sure are you actually talking about 3 baby seats ( triplets?) or 3 seats for kids of different ages.
I went for a test drive in a Verso last weekend and tried putting a baby seat, a childs seat and a booster seat in the middle row and I had no problem. The dimensions of the 3 seats were obviously a little bit different from each other.
