yeah your battery is dead, you need to drive your car to charge the battery otherwise you get this problem.

If its a fairly light car with petrol engine you can try a push start with the help of one other person. thats if you dont have immediate hill access!!

Is the battery dead, is the car turning over and trying to start, is there petrol in it, what is the make and model?

VW Polo 2006. Lights and radio come on but it's not even close to starting. The engine does nothing.

I'd say battery needs to be charged, your options are either to charge the battery with a charger, get a jump start from another car or else to push start the car and once started it should then recharge.

Next possibility is starter motor but more likely battery as it's being layed up for a month.

My car does this. Leave it sitting for a week and the battery goes completely flat. Need to jump start it, drive it around a little and then its fine again.
Got sick of asking to borrow people's car to jump start mine and got myself a battery starter thing from halfords. Really easy to use and works great.

So yeah, that's probably what you need. If you can find some big guys to push it, you can try push starting it. If you have jump leads and can borrow someone's car, try jump starting it and if you have neither, head over to halfords and get a jumper starter thing.

Once started, drive it around for 30-60mins and the battery will be good as new.

A push start is not recommended for a car fitted with a cat.

Most common reason for this is radio draining power even when it looks like its off.

Red and yellow cables at back of radio need to be swapped so it killls radio from ignition.
