Is this the correct order I need to have the filter on my Sky box/phone connection?

Evening,

Not sure if this is the right forum, but since the issue is with a Sky + box, I think so.

Quick question. My folks unplugged the connections going into the sky box and while I've gotten it working again I'm not sure if it's right. What I have at present is a filter plugged directly into the phone socket on the wall. Into the ASDL jack on the filter I have plugged in the router. Into the phone jack on the filter I have plugged a two jack splitter. Into that splitter I have plugged the Sky + box and the phone. Neither have a filter.

Into the phone jack I have plugged a two jack splitter

Into one jack of the splitter I have plugged the sky box phone line. Into the other I have plugged the phone. Both are connected directly.

My question is whether I need to put additional filters on the two phone lines going into the splitter?

Providing no alarm digidialler is connected this should be ok. No additional filters should be necessary. Does it all work without interfering with each other ie is there any noise on the phone or does the dsl drop whilst making a phone call.

There is a bit of noise on the line but I think that's a problem in the Sky box as if I wiggle the wire in the back of the Sky box the buzzing noise goes.

Do the folks have just one Skybox or multiroom? If it's just the one box then the phone line doesn't have to be plugged into it despite what Sky say.

Your setup should be fine

Have a look at this - it's for the UK but is essentially the same for here in Ireland...

Hard wired sockets = filter for each attached phone used
extentions = one filter only ( any more and it stops the adsl signal from working correctly)
