Digital Receiver questions

Comments

All this seems to be, is a digital receiver that can connect to an external drive which is a seperate purchase by the way.

I don't see anything on that page that would suggest that it can deal with saorview and hence would be useless in this country.

Perhaps others might be able to advise differently.

Looks like UK Freeview SD only, so not worth buying (not particularly cheap either).

You'd be better off in the terrestrial forum with this.

Thanks. I'll avoid buying it so.

You should be able to get a proper Saorview approved receiver for not much extra outlay, if you shop around.

You'll only receive "up to 50 freeview channels" if you're within range of a UK transmitter.

£90 is expensive. They are a good bit less in the local shop. I'd expect online to be cheaper.

That's not Saorview approved. See the list linked to above.

Ronnie: says 'Irish Saorview' in the title so you have to presume it is.

shblob: No. It's much more trustworthy in that all 3rd party sellers are verified wholesalers, if product is not sold directly from Amazon themselves.

Presume what? That it's approved? There's a list (already mentioned) of officially approved product, no need for anyone to buy anything else if all they want is a basic receiver.

And this endless linking to ebay stuff is a pain; can't people just go on there & search for themselves if that's what they want?
And anyone who feels the need to come here & ask "is < insert dodgy 'works with Irish Saorview' receiver > compatible" could maybe rethink their purchase?

If you have to ask & all that . . .

Just buy the genuine article rather then helping these guys clear their stocks of this stuff.
