If you're in pain from your lips, nivea do a squeezy tube called SOS or Urgent repair or something....the tube is white and the cap is light blue. I had one a few years ago and didn't really like it at first as the balm itself was thick and white and a bit manky looking! But it worked brilliantly and I'm so annoyed that I've lost it  Must look for a replacement over the weekend.

Pot of carmex is good I find, my friend told me the tube one isn't as good but I don't know why. I often get horrible painful splits in the corners of my lips in winter but carmex sorted it in like 4 days, wish I'd tried it sooner! Never cost me more than a fiver though and does last a good bit. About €3 in Boots I think.

Got this actually this morning - nipped home at lunchtime and scrubbed my lips with an old toothbrush, put the Carmex on (the one in the pot) - touch wood, things a lot better tonight, best in ages! :)

To be honest lip-gloss is better than lip balm if you find your lips sore if chapped a good one be from clinique or elizbeth arden.

Love lipgloss, but hate the way your hair sticks to it! :D

Blistex Healing Relief Cream is the best if you need urgent lip care!

Carmex in the tube is the only thing for me, or failing that, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. I'll use the Carmex during the day, especially during the winter and when I have chapped or cracked lips. I got a coldsore for the first time in my life a few months ago, and when it healed I was lashing on Carmex to get them back to condition! I use the 8 hour cream at night, because I find it too gooey to use during the day. I do have the solid lipbalm version of the 8 hour cream, but I prefer the cream tbh.

Honestly can't understand how vaseline is so popular as a lip balm, it's crap! Especially if you've ever tried 8 Hour Cream, Carmex or Burt's Bees. Vaseline barely lasts half and hour and doesn't heal chapped lips at all.

Is there any particular lip palm for, not necessarily dry lips, but more cracked/peeling skin lips?

For protection and general use, I buy these in my local Tesco.

Two "original" plus one Aloe Vera. I can't recall the exact price, but they are notably cheaper than Nivea or Labello, and every bit as effective.

Try Badger Lip Balm ............ AFAIK Boots sell it. Most people out here wear it when it goes below freezing - which it does for at least 2 months of the year.

God, I find the original black chapstick is great.

I rarely need to use anything though unless I have a spot at the edge of my lip and I have been licking.

I have a tub of Carmex too.

I would have to say the only thing works for me is Elizabeth Arden eight hour skin protectant, it is expensive but you get a massive tube of it like think it is 50ml. It is brilliant

The eight hour lip balm is amazing too. It's dear - about €20+, but mine usually lasts about 4-5 months and I use it every day! It is gorgeous and I love it.

I find vaseline very good, the little green one. I only ever have to use it in the wintertime, because my lips dry out in the cold weather, I tried everything before that, but Vaseline soothed the irritation and then got rid of the moisture problem.
My sis swears by Elizabeth Arden 8 Hr cream, it's expensive though.

Forever Aloe Lips is without doubt the best lip balm i have ever used, it makes your lips so soft and moisturised almost instantly and doesnt leave your lips dependant on it like Vasline does. It kills off colesores aswel and can be used to heal burns, minor cuts, piles....its use is endless!! I love it! :)

I'm actually not a big fan of the likes of nivea and labello as I find the lip balms too thick, I recently got Burts Bees in Pomegranate and it's great, so light and smooth and smells nice too! Also, I bought a H&M lipbalm in Pomegranate (coincidence:P) recently and it's actually brilliant! I'm usually so picky with lip balms so I'm delighted to have found two I like!

    I'll let ye's into a little secret I discovered.

Benpathem is an AMAZING lip balm.

Slap it on before you go to bed and you'll see the difference. Only around 4yoyos for a tube :)

I use Carmex, Burts Bees pomegranate or Neutrogenia Immediate Repair lip balm (the one in the tub, not the tube). The Lush ones are lovely too, epecially the chocolate one! The Body Shop lip balms are quite nice as well, and they give you a bit of colour and gloss.

I ended up with the Burts Bees one when I was in New York. It said it was a sun protecting balm, great says I, just what I need. Brought it home realised it was all of SPF 8, and the Neutrogena I already had was SPF 15! Luckily it ended up being a really nice product anyway.

It's got to be Carmex if you have a problem with dry lips. It's the best thing on the market for your lips, even if it doesnt come in a sexy little pot like most of the other stuff out there.

Kiehl's is pretty good too, and if you're in North America, Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush lip balm is a nice one, minty and soothing!

I wonder though if using lip balms every day is detrimental...my lips seem to be drier now than they were years ago before I started using any. Hmm

Carmex Cherry - lasts forever! Got three lip balm tins in a set from Boots at Christmas, and I was surprised that they were actually pretty good, and they taste scrummy. Labello isn't bad either. And I like the MAC Lip Therapy and No. 7 Protect and Perfect lip tubes too.
