importing a rangefinder

    lads bought a secondhand rangefinderfrom the states on flebay whats the crack with importing it what does the sender mark it down as ...gift ?? is there tax on second hand gear thanks for any info

    im almost 100% certain that gifts are taxable and will held by customes.

    If the value exceeds a certain limit that they have, Im not sue what the threshold is, then they will hold it & contact you for a copy of your paypal receipt. Then the tax will be calculated based on what you paid ie 23%vat. This happened to me a while back. sometimes the courier company (dhl or fedex) will do this also.
    But you might be lucky and it will get through without any issues. :D

    Ask the seller to mark it as used second hand item with a value of 20 euro and if u really want to be sure pay him in two instalments. First total price less 20 and second only 20 so you have a receipt
