it's rained a bit since 1995...we've had some snow too...doubt the soil didsturbances are still disturbed..

There are portable x-ray machines that can identify human remains buried under soil. I don't know what approach they used, maybe they mapped out on area and decided to see if there was anything there.

He supposedly left the country after his release, I think that was reported at the time. I've no way of verifying this of course.

The Aertel news item says it was a routine search. What routine means in this context is not clear.:confused::confused:

I would have thought it was fairly obvious .... when they find a body in the woods they routinely get some of the lads together for some "overtime" for walking around in a field (random field of choice by of superintendent).

(not meant as garda bashing - just meant as a joke)

The rumour goes that he had his passport stolen by a spanish hooker, and that was why he had to come back to Dublin till a new one was sorted.

Multiple cold case files, a suspected serial killer and disappearances stop when he's in prison. As a hunter Murphy knew the area like the back of his hand. Now we learn the Gardai didn't even search the hunting lodge or surrounding area properly. What kind of inept fúckwits are they? Do they possess even a basic level of cop on?

I never got this. If you feel a person is a clear danger to a section of the population, you keep them locked up. If the guy wasn't willing to even entertain rehabilitation programs, he should still be sitting in a locked small room.

The body found yesterday has been indentified.
Gardaí have identified the remains of the person found in the Dublin mountains over the weekend as those of James Kenny McDonagh

I'd say journalists are heartbroken it's nothing to do with Larry Murphy.

I totally agree, if anyone was caught red handed of a serious crime or attempt of crime they should be locked up for life and not allowed be released. That way people would feel safer that the worlds crazies are not lurking around searching for their next victim!

Get grip will ye? Can the Gardai not just be allowed to their job without being routinely critised?

No trust me you have no idea how stupid they are. I have a missing family member and you just wouldn`t believe the level of incompetance we have seen - lossing evidence and files left right and centre, including body parts. Coming up with pure rubbish that lacks basic sense and not carrying out any investigation.

So sorry about your relative but you can't judge them all based on one bad experience.

In relation to the body I in two minds on this. I am glad that man will be returned to his family for burial but there is also a part that hoped for closure for one of the families of the missing women.

    Completely unfair and unecessary.

Not one bad experience a litany of errors over 20 years you can`t imagine. They are still doing it. Any chance you read what I said - they lost a body part in there custody can you even imagine!

Only last night we went to guard to get copy of robbery report - they had the details completely wrong and had left out an extremely important detail.

I`m just so angry and sick of there incompetance at this stage.

None of those articles say the area wasn't searched before or it wasn't search properly.

None of those articles mentioned the Lodge had been searched before now. Therefore it is reasonable to assume it hasn't been. Do you yourself think the lodge and surrounding area has been searched already? If so, perhaps you might be so kind as to provide some links ect, as to why you have come to this conclusion? Because I can't find any.

But if the lodge had been searched properly prior to this current search, then why would they be searching it again? Unless of course the Gardai can't grasp an understanding of the term 'properly'. I mean we are talking about a shed after all and one would like to think that even this isn't beyond the capabilities of the Gardai.

Sorry Larry, I didn't mean to put the heat back on you again.

    .

They might have got new information on this case, one that has nothing to with Murphy, information they never had before. Maybe the poor lad was held there before he was murdered, seeing as no clothes or possessions were found.

When I heard the "routine" keyword, I imagined that it was because they hoped to catch Larry on the hop. If you think about it in terms of a brutal murderer, if I heard that a body had been found somewhere that I remember burying someone in a shallow grave, my first instinct would be to panic and start worrying about the other bodies I'd buried - should I move them or check them?

So the Gardai may actually perform "routine" searches like this whenever a body turns up somewhere in order to either catch the guy on the hop or look for evidence of new disturbed ground.

I doubt it. You'd hardly drive a body to Baltinglass and then bring it back to Dublin.

my niece's father is an imcompetent garda... the child was 4 weeks old when i dragged him out of the pub so he could meet her for the first time despite being offerd the chance to see his daughter being born which he made up a lame ass excuse about having to work....noone would expect ya to work when your kid is being born... since then he has only seen her a handful of times and that was only cos he wanted a promotion (which he didnt get) and he was using the child at garada family day events so after that he stopped seeing the child again.

if he cant be responsible for his own offspring why on earth would we expect him to be a responsible garda officer

Maybe not :D, not up on dumping bodies since the Sopranos.

It's the Dublin mountains and Baltinglass, not that outlandish!

What does your sister getting knocked up by some loser have to do with the Gardai searching for bodies in Wicklow?

I'd only take that route if i dressed the body up real nice, wig glasses etc and brought her for a scenic drive, in the passenger seat...like she was my girlfriend/mother ...etc

If it was a body in the boot, not a chance Baltinglass is 40kms at least from where the body was found, and the only 15km from where he was abducted..
