A few things I assume I'd have to do like get it network unlocked and get a new SIM from 3 to fit an iPhone (that wont be a problem will it?).

Once I've done those 2 things will I be good to go?

Get the previous owner to request the Vodafone unlock. Get ur micro sim and indeed you are ready to go !

what about the fact that this iphone think's it's "Julie's iphone" and has all her apps etc on it, is it simple enough to restore it to factory settings and start fresh?
