"Huge, huge offer" would mean something more than £8m for a player like Ki considering he has a huge commercial value, a value that has increased with his Korean player of the year award. Also consider the Kayal situation, I think that should kill any talk of him moving because Lennon needs the title to secure his job.

We paid over £2m at the time and considering the business that we were doing at the time, player wise, it was a sizeable investment and risk. We know that EPL clubs, like Liverpool, are looking for Asian players to tap into that market. We have that, and we NEED that considering the financial climate of the SPL. Unless Ki indicates that he isnt willing to extend his contract or falls out with Lennon, or something bad, Celtic will want to keep him because over the duration of the time he'll spend here we will see the bones of that sort of money in commercial revenue. Lawwell has been looking for the next Nakamura, i.e. where talent meets commercial value, and I think he has found it, albeit after a good few flops. Considering how hard he now knows it is to find such a player, I doubt and hope he's not willing to part easily and thank god the financial side of the club is in a state that the decision is our hands and no decision will be made to appease banks or external creditors.

I think Ki can be lacking urgency at (most)times but he has shown remarkable improvement in his game since he joined and there is no reason he cant improve more by the looks of it. If Celtic are looking to get back to auto UCL qualification, its by not taking those sort of offers because you are selling at a premium but to get value for re-investment you really need to wait until the summer and thats a risk that can blow up in your face.

When is Celtic's kit deal up, either with Nike or with Tennants?

I'd imagine his value is related to both these deals, as shirt sales in themselves generate very little revenue for the club (something like £1 per shirt). Its the sponsorship deals that generate the greater revenue, and obviously the value of these deals in dependent upon sales, and where those sales are made.

An example as you said is Liverpool who are sponsored by Standard Chartered. Without a Liverpool following in the Far East, its unlikely Standard Chartered would have bid for the deal. Lawwell may be looking at something similar, and a fan base in the Far East could strengthen his chances of achieving it

Not a hope of us signing him now but it again proves Dempsey's point that our scouts can spot good young talent, with Rhodes though his recent form has also attracted teams that are capable of offering more money than we can.
    henke wrote: »
Would love to see us sign Rhodes. The kid is on fire in front of goal at the minute and probably would cut it in the SPL no problem.

I can't see it happening though as his form is that good I think an EPL club will take a chance on him.

I could see it happening if Rhodes himself didn't want to make the move directly from League 1 to the Premiership, particularly as Spurs have ruled themselves out. I think Everton were the only other premiership side linked, but they're broke and Moyes seems to hate players that aren't centre half's. I can't see Celtic willing to spend too much on him though, and given Huddersfield don't want to sell, as you say, its probably unlikely

What was sung or is it more media propaganda/anti Irish sentiment?

A certain add-on about joining the IRA and not being mastered by an orange b*stard.

So I've heard, I didn't see the game.

I have no idea, I've been studying I just picked that up off twitter hoping someone might let us know on here.

Is every media person who reports on Celtic doing something they shouldn't anti irish?

I only saw the last 10 minutes so I do know.

This is the Scottish Media we are talking about, its a distinct possibility. Remember that the BBC wouldnt apologise for their comments during the Scottish Cup final when they were clearly in the wrong, why would I expect better from a hack that works for a rag like the Sun?

Didn't see the game today but as was expected a win for Celtic and great to see Stokes getting a hat trick, will do his confidence the world of good. Back to SPL action next Saturday and a home game against Dundee Utd. Hopefully another 3 points to stay on top of the table.

Celtic built a nice revenue stream from Nakamura with deals outside the main sponsorship area to the point that they hired a full time commercial director to exploit this properly. I'm sure thats in full swing with Ki despite us not knowing much about it at this side of the world.

Celtic have a 5 year, ~£29m, deal with Nike that ends in 2014
Celtic have a 3 year, £1.5m p/a, deal with Tennents that ends in 2013

Who the Fk? Aye, that's a GB original right there!

    "Huddle"?
We've done the Bouncy for years buddy, just you turn around ands we'll watch the game ok?

And tell me this, where to you think the Gangrene Brigade got their ideas from? Couldn't have been the European teams that have been doing these things for years.

TBO have done the pointing thing as long as the GB have, and sang the song a hell of a lot longer.
TBO have done that song, to various players, as long as the GB.

Nah see we do the bouncy and watch the game, rather and turn our back and do "the huddle".. Suppose you're going to try and tell us thats original as well

If anyone really thinks the GB and TBO/UB don't have members that know each other and discuss these things then they're naive.

Are you honestly trying to claim that the GB invented '*insert name of manager and colour of team*'s army' ?

Aye, the Huddle. You know the one, your fans were doing again last week. The one with backs turned to the pitch.

    No they haven't :)
Oh, European groups aye, not from our rivals across the city though.

I await the end to end chanting :D When the union bears, or is it still TBO shout and the rest of the stadium replies. Tell me you've being doing that for years too please.

Don't give a **** what any of them have done but we have been doing the bouncy since the 60's and were doing insert name of manager and colour of team*'s army during WS's first time

Holy ****, you REALLY believe that the GB invented all that :D
So it's totally impossible that TBO/UB have seen other teams from the continent do stuff like that and took it over ?

No, it has to be copied from the GB.

Jesus wept. Does it ever change on here? Who sang what first... blah blah blah. :( Who gives a sh1te?

Good win today, only saw some of second half but delighted for Stokes. I always felt it could have been more if required, kind of like we were in 2nd gear.

    Onwards we go! :)

No, I don't believe they GB did, I just find it amusing watching you lot try and create the buzz without your usual 'ditties'. Then again, some of the same old stuff came out today, "the berrs are having a party". You know the one.....

Back to league business this week, anyone heading over to the game at all?? Early ferry for me :)

Here Lubo - it seems you havnt noticed, but your team won 3-0 away to Peterhead today.

Obviously the Muddleboard doesnt keep you up to date with Celtic's fixtures as you don't seem to have mentioned the game today at all.

I propose that we get a new superthread and in that thread, and only in that thread can anyone discuss any related to sectarian chanting, songs sung by the GB etc etc. One thread for all the ****e that regularly clutters both club threads. The people interested in that aspect of Scottish Football can go there for a natter about that and those who just want to discuss football can just look at these threads, properly.

Agreed. Celtic and Rangers fans will naturally disagree on a lot of things, the back and forth arguing is pointless. Not like anyones mind is ever changed.

Good win for the Bhoys today, never needed to push ourselves but would have liked more than three.

Always good to see Stokes play well. Back to the real stuff now, the league!

    In Lenny I trust!

    Now what to call it.....

I propose the "Celtic and Rangers singing, chanting, illicit, sectarian, hun, fenian, bombs and bullets general discussion thread"!

Aye, i'll be at the Aberdeen and Hibs games this month all going well. Unfortunately working weekends means i dont get as often as i'd like.

I'll be sure to note down any songs/chants/actions TBE and UB do when i'm there though. ;)

Same here with the weekend work, it's a juggling game trying to fit games in between shifts. Who are TBE??

ICT or Dunfermline for the Bhoys in the cup

They should just call themselves the Blue Brigade and be done with it, with the amount of ripping off of their songs they do. When I heard the songs they robbed yesterday I have to laugh. They hate the GB yet copy all of their main songs and are also robbing their style as well. Laughable!

I suppose imitation is a form of flattery!
