I'm curious to know what the most commonly-used Operating Systems by After Hours users are.

I'm not really clued-in about all the less-common ones, so if you don't see yours listed above, that's why.

Also I did a search to see if this had been asked already, and nothing came up - certainly nothing recent anyway.

    Anyway, answers on a postcard!

Or in the poll above. Either's good.

Ubuntu. Its an open source os. The unity interface works well on my netbook. I plan to get a desktop next summer and will probably put fedora or opensuse on it

Windows 7 all the way. I was pissing about with the Windows 8 Developers Preview for a while but it wasn't for any serious use.

    Because it's fantastic.

And Linux is both an OS and a kernel. I said Linux because I always change distros.

Windows 7 is the biggest fail of an os ever. It freezes crashes and boots slow. Oh yeah well linux could mean anything the way u put it just say ubuntu or fedora or arch etc

I would have said Vista by a LONG shot.
I found it to be the case and so did many of my friends.
A memory stealing, lack of driver, resource robbing, bloated ugly dog of a system.

    Windows XP
    Windows Vista
    Windows 8 Developer Preview
    Ubuntu 10.04 - 11.04

All on an 80Gb hard drive.

Going to format the windows 8 partition (as I accidentally broke it) and the XP one, add the space to the vista partition and install windows 7 over it.

It was excellent while it worked, then I accidentaly messed everything up by messing around with the boot menu because it locked me out of linux. Ran very smoothly

    Visually, a nice look.
The layout and the icons are good - better even.
The underlying architecture coding is the same as Ubuntu.

By the way, a good site to get and/or view them all free is here: http://distrowatch.com/
