Update on receivers with 7 day guide.

Howdy all. I've been doing a lot of reading over the last few days on boxes out there with a 7 day guide and basic pvr functionality. To be honest it's mind boggling and a lot of the info is out of date with new images coming out for boxes all the time.

I was looking at a Technomate TM 800 with a 2.5 hard drive installed but from what I understand there are issues with timeshifting and a few other bits so it's not recommended? Also the DM800HD but it looks like all the ones within budget are clones and of questionable quality. I know this has been asked in the past but would anyone mind updating me on a box working out there at the mo that fits these criteria:

1 Able to get 7 day guide for FTA UK channels
2 Can put a disk internal or works well with usb drive
3 Basic PVR including timeshifting
4 number of tuners doesn't matter
5 Clone doesn't mater if the source is good.

Edit: Anyone tried the edision argus pingulux or the IPBox 99HD ?

A Freesat branded box will give a 7 day EPG. A Freesat+ box will give that with PVR function.

I've the Humax Foxsat HDR. It's probably the best Freesat+ box on the market, but I haven't actually used another one in order to make a direct comparison.

Thanks. Yeah I have a freesat box and they work flawlessly. Was looking for a linux box or similar to do a bit tinkering around. Streaming and such things.

Thanks, that's defo one. I'm planning on getting this and another box in the price range of €150-€250. This box comes in at about €460 with a hard drive installed. There seems to be an endless list of brands and it's hard to figure out what does what.

Or get a Humax Foxsat HDR and add this software and you have auto updating with 7 day epg and home network streaming capability and more...

The box in standard form is pretty impressive, I own one, this upgrade makes it really good by all accounts.
I have no need for streaming, personally, so I can't comment, but all those that try it seem impressed.

The 'upgrade' allows the Humax to be viewed as a network drive and content can be streamed and/or downloaded. It works very well.

What I find most useful is that you can browse the EPG from a PC or tablet, and also look at recording reservations. This is far easier than using a remote.
