I've been on a trip through Belly, Portishead, Thin Lizzy and HamsandwicH recently. I want advice on where next to turn my attention.

You like Belly? Top band! I recommend The Breeders, the Belly singer was a member for a while (though she didn't sing any songs afaik) and they're kinda similar.

I haven't been playing that much music recently but I always find myself returning to The Kinks more and more, so many great songs.
