Does anyone know how to play region 1 DVDs on a Laptop?

You can try using VLC Player. I should point out some DVD drives use RPC-2 protection, which can make playback of protected DVDs very difficult, without modifying your DVD drives firmware, which in itself may not even be feasible

    Thanks.

    Downloaded it and it worked.

What is that program. I assume it does more than just allow you to watch other region dvds?

    Thanks

Yes it just ignores region coding of DVDs, as I said though some drives have integrated mechanisms which make these work arounds fail to work :) . I think Mac machines are notorious for it (Matsh!ta/Panasonic DVD Drives)
