That Shandon Clinic place is gone now, are there any similar places in Ireland?

I always thought it would be cool to go there, do a medical experiment and make some money.
But then it closed down. Does anyone know of other places that do the same thing?

    Moving to health sciences,

Be aware that while it is unlikely for problems to occur during clinical trials there have been fatalities in the past. Like the rides in Funderland it's fairly safe but not completely safe.

Not so sure I'd do it just for the money. I'd have to believe in the treatment proposed.

The money is rubbish, under European regulations you cannot pay participants of a clinical trial, so you are merely allowed 'expenses', which is usually around €50-70 a day so I have heard. This has been the case since the 1990's, some guys I met used to go to Germany in the 80's for their summer break in college and do a phase one trial, used the £1000 they 'earned' to fund their travels throughout Europe for the whole summer, they had great fun apparently. :D

Phase one trials (the 'first in man' drug trials) are the ones that need healthy volunteers. As far as I know, now most of the participants of phase one trials in Ireland now are actually end-stage patients that volunteer so that something good could come of their death which I think is just the most amazing display of generosity on their part.
