Best pint of Guinness

the gravediggers is massively overrated these days.

The best pint I've had in dublin in aeons was the windjammer, mulligans did a good pint but I havent been there in years tbh

Round Mullingar I'd say Wallace's on Mount St. is about the best. Outside town Gunning's of Rathconrath is exceptional, keg under the counter.

In Dublin Cleary's on Amiens St. is about the best I've ever tasted.

Sorry to hear that .Used to go there for a drink with the Da ,at least once a week before he died .Doyles used to be good before they changed ownership about 3 or 4 years ago .

It means what is says, I am from the northside

There is a bit of a click as in everyone knows everyone else so if a stranger comes in people tend to look at them.
I know the spelling is incorect but thats what we say, sorry if I confused you.

Both pubs used to be good.
I worked as a barman in phibsboro in the early 90's when both those pubs were class.
As you said, since they have changed hands, they have gone downhill.
Pity really.
I agree about the gravediggers aswell, used to be amazing for Guinness but last few times I was there it was dreadful.
Still a very unique pub though and worth a visit.

The bar in on the left in Coppers.

Ask for it to be poured from the left pump though., not the right.

Had a few in the Railway just across the road from Portarlington Train station. not the greatest pub but a seriously nice pint of the black.

In Dublin, Ryans of Parkgate St and the Dawson Lounge do lovely pints. Fletcher's in Naas is another good spot.

The Revels in Rathfarnham put out consistently excellent Guinness.

Houghs in Banagher is my favourite pub in the world and also has class Guinness. No cold room - the kegs are kept inside the bar. Quality.

Had delicious pints in Toners and Donoghues just before Christmas. 13 pints (including one in McDaids) and no hangover whatsoever the next morning.

Other ones that come to mind:

The Brewery Tap - Tullamore
Mutton Lane - Cork
Dick Macs - Dingle
Neachtains - Galway
Freeneys - Galway
The Blue Light - up past Stepaside
The Cobblestone - Smithfield

In Donegal I'd go for:

Pat Bonners in Ballybofey
Biddy's o Barnes

But really there so many places to get a good pint of it up our way!

Loved the few I had in Kehoe's earlier this year in Dublin!

Mulligans is over rated and Brogans hasn't been at its best in a while. Chaplins and McTurkells do a better pint than Mulligans, cheaper and with out all the suits in the bar.

Una Powells in Nenagh, Tipp
The Lame Duck in Clonara, Clare

Both places are tiny and have the kegs under the bar, as far as I know

A lot of it is in the mind.

But special mention to

Tigh Cholli and Taffes on Shop St. Galway. That's if you can push your way to the bar in either place. You'll have to kick over a fiddle player and climb on top of a couple of tourists to get to the bar :-(

Also the little olde mans Pub round the corner from James Gate in Dublin. A lot of the old heads from (what's left of) the Brewry drink in there .. says it all really. :-)

Over in the UK most, if not all barmen/woman don't believe in the two part pour and pour it like a pint of ale! All down the glass in one go!
