American Magazines in Ireland?

I wasn't really sure where to post this, but anyway.

I'll be visiting some people in the Dublin area soon and I wanted to bring American gifts (I'm from California) for them to enjoy. I already have some foodie ideas (Twinkies, Mexican hot chocolate, Peeps, homemade tasties) but I wanted to bring something that wasn't food related as well... So I thought maybe American magazines?

Can anyone tell me what magazines you do/don't have in Ireland? I was brainstorming:
-Vogue (I'm assuming the US has a different edition?)
    -Vanity Fair
    -Real Simple
    -Esquire
    -Time
    -People
    -Sport's Illustrated
    -???

Are these magazines readily available in Ireland? And can you think of any others that aren't?

    Thanks muchos!

They're your everyday magazines at the store? Balls :( I'm something of a food crazed maniac to be honest, but I'd rather not be seen that way, at least not right at the outset! I wonder what else I could bring...

Yeah, easons does all the international magazines and papers so they're really easy to get. Most of the magazines you listed would be available in regular newsagents-Irelands not Americanized at all :P
Fallon&Byrne in Dublin do a lot of American foodstuffs aswell but bring lots of Twinkies! Ive always wanted to try a Twinkie!! (Not that you bringing them will benefit me, but I cant imagine Im the only one whose never had em but always heard about them on tv).

There's not much difference between Ireland and the US. The food is a slightly higher quality and we tend to kill each other slightly less. That's about it. We don't live in thatched cottages watching traditional folk dancing on the TV while our mammy boils potato skins for a meager dinner. Vanity Fair is not going to impress us.

Vanity Fair is for, like; rilly stoopid Cünts.

I think all those magazines are available but only in EU or UK versions. That said, I don't think the difference between versions is enough to warrant you bringing them all the way with you. Unless your friends have a particular interest in pharma adverts or something.

Bring the best quality beef jerky you can find. AFAIK that stuff is still really hard to get in Ireland and won't ruin you in terms of weight/volume.

True on the jerky Pickarooney, but OP runs the danger of hearing "Oh you came all the way from the USA and brought me a fancy pack of taytos (potato chips)? Gee thanks." unless the recipient is already a jerky afficionado.

Bring some San Francisco Sour Dough. Start and sour dough factory. Eliminate bland Irish white bread.

Imagine getting those as gifts. Not just magazines, but American magazines. It's like being on a hollywood movie set.

They're probably all manufactured in China.

If weight's not an issue, bring drink mixes - the pre-mixed Bloody Mary (vodka not included) etc. bottles. Can't get them here at all (unless someone knows otherwise, and if so, where?). Liquid smoke is something else it's hard to find. If your friends are into cooking, filé powder and sumac are really difficult to source here, also chipotle, ancho, and other dried chillies, Old Bay seasoning (from Penzey's), and - for the fun of it all, an off-the-shelf enema kit, which we certainly don't see much here, but seemed to be everywhere in CA when I was there :)

Seriously though can you not get them something else? magazines are an awful gift. But the fact that you will patronise them with American magazines is actually an insult.

    Bring some margarita mix.

Simmer down, no need to be mean now. I'm used to sending gifts to Japan, they're happy with just about anything. So basically I just need to bring food is what y'all are telling me. Easy enough!

You rarely contribute much to any thread you post in, and this post was no different.
