Which 50inch TV to buy?

Hey guys, does any one have any advice on a TV for a living room, around 50inches. I've heard PLASMS leave image prints on after extended use? should i be looking for an LCD ? the price range seems to rocket after 42 inch ! Not sure what LED is cheers based in UK
