    Who's on Hootenanny this year?

A big indie band that are not big enough to be considered mainstream enough to have sold out.

Time is non-existant, it is man-made. We are celebrating nothing.

    That, and I don't have a girlfriend.

Plus the usual small talk. Can't stand small talk.

I don't see how time is man-made at all. Can you explain?

For the same reason I don't "go out" throughout the rest of the year.

I don't see any point in spending huge amounts of money to go to/from noisy, overly warm, packed buildings full of drunk people to spend even more money buying overpriced mixes of alcohol and water just for an hour or so of having my senses assaulted by terrible music and being completely oblivious of everything around me. A headache the next day doesn't make the experience any better either.

If "going out" meant more than "Getting as drunk as possible in as little time as possible" i'd be all for it but unfortunately that's not how things are over here in Ireland.

When we could, we would avoid New Years eve most times too.
Its not worth the hassle (the amount of drunk assholes around is unreal), the expense and the trouble of avoiding/stepping over the drunks at the end of the night - while trying to get home, a hassle in itself sometimes.

If we can go out, its usually the next night.

I've only ever been out once for a new year's eve and I got puked on and had to walk home because there were no taxis about. The experience has greatly embittered me towards this night of the year so now I just stay in and have a few mates over.

I've had enough good sessions over the Christmas period so I am totally happy just relaxing with the fella and waking up fresh into the new year

If there was a house party Id be there but I hate being in pubs for the new year the influx of gobshítes is unbearable.

Staying in with my Granny because she'd be on her own, and I'd rather spend it with her anyways!
    A fun night ensues....

New Year's is a waste of space.
everything is going to be the exact same tomorrow, so what make a song and dance about it?

I'm sick. Tried getting ready but a sneezing fit put a stop to that.

Haven't been out on NYE in years but would have liked to see a band playing tonight.

I was asked to go drinking but I declined. Im not going to make up a fake excuse as to why I'm not going out. Staying in and doing my own thing is honestly more appealing than going out drinking. Too lethargic to make an effort to socialize.

Anyway I'm going out now for a jog had about 10 chocolates from a box of chocolates because that is what life is like.

Then drop into the boyfriends place walk back to mine with him (switswhooo wink wink)
drop into Centre get some non alcoholic beverages and back to mine to make up some chicken tenders few spuds and some veg infront ta telly.

Better leave now to be back for 9... or may just stay here and send him to the shops.. well no better try and burn those chocolates.

I will be staying in. I really don't like New Years' Eve, never have never will. To me it's just another day. Nothing, physically, will change tomorrow. Yes, it is the start of the a new year and an opportunity to bring about change if you so wish, but I don't see what all the commotion is about - over priced clubs, overly emotional drunk people. From what most people tell me, people are either too busy getting drunk or the club is too packed for most people to even do the "countdown".

I also find the New Year quite a reflective time. I always find the few days after Christmas particularly miserable, so I just like to get the New Year over with and start off the new year on the 1st Jan in a cheerful mood.

I will (try) to stay awake until 12, but honestly, it wouldn't bother me if I did fall asleep.

    staying in because
    1. too many muppets out
    2. too packed in pubs
    3. some have an entrance charge (ya right in this day and age)
    4. price of drink goes up
    5. everyone stands around crushed for a 10 second coundown and then 30 seconds of hugs kisses etc and then boredom
    6. impossible get a taxi home because too many muppets out
    7. takes ages to go to the jacks
    8. takes ages to get grub afterwards
all in all overated expensive and akward id rather stay at home and watch die hard or indiana jones

Im a 20 year old bloke and staying in.

Am I messed up in the head?!

And no, Im not a hermit or a loner.

Just have an injured ankle, and am not arsed walking around with a crutch. Probably would slip on the drink and really feck it up even worse. Plus, new years last year was pish and I spent close to 60 quid  so in part im kind of glad I have this excuse. :P

Me and a few mates planned a session tomorrow for the football and rugby :) hopefully I'll have recovered from this bug in time!!

I usually pre drink till about half 11 then head out, so about 20 quid on drink there, and usually id get in free and half 2 or 3 pints in the club, but it was 15 quid in and pints were €1.50 extra! so thats how it came to about €60. Im not a rich bloke, so €60 on one night out is a lot to me mate :P

I've spent 2006-2010 new years all in bars.
When you are younger you feel its 'sad and stupid' to stay in and you have to go out! Now that i'm 26. I feel new years is nothing more than a day.

The older I get the less I go out. I couldn't be ar5ed.

And I have do get up early tomorrow and drive. Drinking tonight - bad idea.
