Swallowed ATM cards

I recently lost my ATM card and cancelled it. Will an ATM now swallow it if someone attempts to use it? Are swallowed cards returned to their issuing bank?

Either that or the card just won't work. Your bank will send you a new pin and a new card in a few days

I know UB ATM will capture cards that are reported lost or stolen but as long as it's cancelled it will be of no use to anyone.
