    Who is then

    Don't just say he's not

    Tell us who's better

Aguerro, Tevez, Balotelli, Dzeko, Adebayor, Defoe, Hernandez, Berbatov and Drogba are all better than him as out and out strikers. You could make the case too for Welbeck and Torres. Bent struggled big time at the only big club he was at and was shipped out. Good goal scoring record but don't let that mask his overwhelming mediocrity. He struggles with England which is the best side other than Spurs he's been at. Liverpool could do a LOT better than him. Especially at his age and the wages he commands, he would probably be on more than anyone at Spurs were he to go to Liverpool which would be downright shameful.

You really don't like Bent do you? I get that, but saying all of them you quoted above are better than him is silly, they're not even all out and out strikers. Anyway i quite like him, and for me it's about getting a good player that suits the role too, i think it's very important, i think Bent would suit us very well, and i don't think there's anyone available in the EPL (that i know of) that could do the lone striker role as well as Bent. Abroad, maybe, but then you're always taking a risk that the player might not adapt to the english style of play and/or the culture. At least you don't have that worry with a homegrown player

4-2-4 diamond formation, suarez and downing wing forwards, gerrard just behind them in the middle, bent up front furthest forward

don't get me wrong i don't think Bent is the only option, but i definitely think this formation is the way forward for us, so if we could get someone that could perform this role better than Bent i'd welcome it. But i think you're underestimating Bent a bit

Aye, as would Kenny. He has developed quite a habit of buying over-rated english players. If ye're gonna make a decent attempt at the Europa ye need a proper striker, some one worth at least £20 million ;)

In fairness to Blatter, he didn't put up a direct link to that rag.

He posted a direct search for something on google and invited people to click on the link for that rag. Bad enough imo.

I specifically linked the google search displaying the relevant link to avoid directly linking it.

Aren't Villa traditionally a relatively ''big club''?

You referred directly to that rag as part of your argument. Refer somewhere else or don't use the point in your argument, or 'forget' where you got your info imo.

Your making an issue out of nothing. He didn't directly link it, just the results of a search with a link there. If anyone wants to view it from an alternative source, they're perfectly capable of searching for it themselves

bellamy has also been a great transfer for us

true.... although if such a thing were common, we may have to take kochesky back from... wherever he went!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Agreed. Much ado about nothing IMO.

I was going to post a rant earlier in the day when I read the rumors about Bent but thought I would let it settle a little and come back later. I have died a little inside today thinking about Liverpool signing Bent.

    Opr

Nothing done yet except a few rumours buddy.

It may be a smokescreen for someone else:)

Ok fair enough. I'll not mention it again if that's how other people feel. I've made my feeling clear anyway. Carry on.

So far there are only reports of us enquiring about Bent right? Or at least rumours of enquiries from us? I wouldn't read too much into that, I'd imagine we will 'enquire' about plenty of players in each transfer window now with DC around.

Hoilett would be a great signing for 7-10 Million
we have got to stop buying these overpriced English players

I like Suarez as much as the next negrito, but he has been far from 9/10.
He runs with his head down and doesn't look up and he couldn't find his way out of a paper bag at times, his finishing has been poor.

I'd say he might go for even less with his contract nearly up

Guardian article on Carroll, which echoes what Kess73 has been reporting via his own Scouse negritos

It's apparent from the nature of the transfer and word since that Andy had no desire to leave Newcastle. He was kind of strong armed into it and seems the sort that when pushed enough will bend.

He's effectively a double agent for Newcastle and they'll probably buy him back in time to come for sweet **** all. Foiled again Liverpool, baaaaaaaaah.

    :-/

Ah no, he's going to start scoring like a mad yoke. :):)

Andy Carroll hadn't scored in 16 games for me in FM and had 1 assist. He then went on to score 11 goals and a further 7 assists in 22 games. There's hope yet lads

How are you utilising him? Who is he up front with?

The way he should be played, upfront with Suarez. He's playing as a complete forward, on the last defender and not coming deep as that is Suarez's job. Here lies the real life issue with Carroll. He doesn't play on the last defender. He comes deep and as such, he never seems to be in the right position be it for through balls or crosses.

I had hoped it was something more simple like a change of haircut or playing Heskey alongside him.

He's my top scorer on Fifa 12 with 2 goals at the half way point.

16 of those goals have been in the league.

I'm playing him as the striker in a front 3 with Gerrard and Suarez on the wings.

    Indeed, especially at home.

At least he actually had a few decent chances the last day.

Not that impressed with the Bent talk. Thinking about it, I don't think he'd cope with the pressure at Liverpool. Misses a few sitters which he does, the head could drop when the fans get on his back.

Oh sorry, there was something else. I injected him with Pele's semen. Dunno if that made a difference though, all he seems to be doing bar scoring is advertisements for christmas crackers.

We throw in a few beachballs in training. Problem sorted

Tried that for Carroll. Didn't work - He just thought he was at the beach so he stripped off, laid down and whipped out a few beers.

If we win by 8 tomorrow we could go top 4.
    Bit of added incentive there.
