Surely Andy is a shoe in to start against Newcastle. He needs chances if he is ever going to amount to anything for Liverpool. Suarez not playing is a big loss, he is the only player that offers any quality.

I reckon Newcastle will be up for this though and Liverpool might be their for the taking. I cant see where the goals will come from for Liverpool TBH.

Technically Friday. Those posts (at least two of them) were from Wednesday though. Seems a few people reckon this match is on Thursday night.

Funny time of year though. You tend to forget about what day of the week it is for a few days. I do anyway.

Nah, just watch the Blackburn game in black and white. Should be the standard visual output in Donegal no? :p

Why can't we call up someone from the youth team to fill in for Suarez? I don't have much knowledge of the youths but I heard theres a couple that could make the step up, like last year Robinson, Flanagan and Kelly were called up when we were stuck.

We wouldn't have to rely on Carroll. :P

You sure? I could've sworn Letterkenny was in black and white when I stepped off the bus :D

Although that might've been the sunglasses playing tricks :p

Anybody else here think Glen J should be moved up to right mid, bring Kelly in at right full. Think that'd work much better for us, a bit of natural width

Its an idea, Kelly is also one of our few threats in the air from crosses and corners in the squad.

Knew nothing about him until this summer but have kept an eye of for news on him since and of course watched the obligatory Youtube clips :D

Seems like an outstanding prospect, bags of pace and skill, a true Brazilian flair player so to speak and is really after coming along this year in his progression if what I am reading is true.

Be surprised (pleasantly!) if he does end up at Liverpool though.

honestly dont know why this hasnt happened yet, he played there a bit for portsmouth and he was excellent.

Kelly is also too good a player to be leaving out, the guy is brilliant and if it wasnt for the competition being so good at the moment, he would be an international no question

it should have been tried by now,im amazed it hasnt...

The defence has been very solid so far this season, I see no reason to change it. Martin Kelly's time will come.

Unfortunatly if he is moving to England I can see it been Chelsea who land him as AVB is a big fan :(

Don't worry we will get Cavani :P

Delighted this match is on tomorrow night. Great to have a night time match at Anfield. Hopefully the crowd will be up for it.

    Hey lads
I know this has been brought up before but it keeps coming back and growing legs......Is it possible Torres could come back? I have it from a
'reliable' source he has been up at Melwood recently.....surely not?

The FA are a laughing stock all over world for the bias they have shown regarding the Suarez matter.

Evidence for this ? i.e. press around the World laughing at the FA over Suarez

Can't see it to be honest, but then again, this time last year, didn't see him leaving to them...

It's possible Torres might have at Melwood...maybe to visit old friends but I can't see him coming back to be honest, especially in January.

Chelsea will need him big time then with the African Cup of Nations (unless they buy a new striker with this 150m!)

Before he came out and had a go at the current owners in a recent interview there may have been some tiny chance for him to come back, but now I reckon there is no chance.

What do people think the budget is for a new striker?

Can only see Pool being given money to replace Lucas, a strker I would imagine would be from sales. Nearly 60m was spent on strikers last year.

I have alot of time for Kelly. And although the defense is good we've conceded too regularly at home. I think we're lacking width on the right and i think Kelly & Johnson could provide that. None of Maxi, Kuyt or Bellamy are players that can get up and down the wing and get good balls in. Also with Kelly in behind i think it would leave us a little more solid at the back (too much pressure is been put on Johnson to roam forward atm due to this problem imo, can be a little exposed at the back as a result)

Will try to find a link to the interview, but basically he came out and stated that the new owners who had come in were one of the reasons he left. He was very clear in that it was FSG and not the two cowboys.

EDIT: Found one link, it's the Mail, but contains accuarate quotes.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2077265/Fernando-Torres-Liverpool-owners-lied-truth-Chelsea-move.html
Fernando Torres has lifted the lid on his acrimonious departure from Anfield, claiming the club lied to him and that Liverpool's American owners made false promises.

The Chelsea striker says he was let down by the Fenway Sports Group before his acrimonious £50million transfer to Stamford Bridge in January.

‘The Liverpool fans don’t know the truth about why I signed for Chelsea,’ the 27-year-old, who spent three-and-a-half seasons at Anfield, told Spanish television.

‘The fans don’t even know half of what happened. They don’t know what the people in charge at Liverpool are like - they have a completely different perception of what they are like.
‘They made promises that they didn’t keep and I left because I realised I didn’t have time to be part of a project that would take years.’

The former Kop idol, who netted 81 times in 142 Liverpool appearances, also attempted to build bridges with the Anfield faithful.

‘I have nothing against the Liverpool fans,’ he said. ‘I didn’t want to leave Liverpool the way I did but the club lied. I was let down and I don’t understand why the fans hate me.’
Making their point: Liverpool fans vent their fury at their former idol
And while he has scored just five times in 35 Chelsea appearances, Torres is backing himself to rediscover his goalscoring touch for the Blues and Spain.

‘It’s true that Vicente Del Bosque is worried about me and my form for Chelsea. It’s up to me to go back to being the striker I was before.

‘If I go back to how I was a few years ago, I will again play an important role in the Spanish national team.’

‘I am going to try to be very humble and get back into the Chelsea starting line-up,' said Torres, who has seen chances limited thanks to the resurgence of Didier Drogba.
Sidelined: Torres has seen first-team opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge
He also spoke of the pain of being on the Chelsea bench – but says he should be shown more respect given his achievements in the game.

‘My form has not been good but I am world and European champion and I deserve more respect,’ he said.

‘It’s hard being on the bench but I respect the players who are playing. I’m going to support the team and get back in,’ he said.
