If they're Vulcan women, we shag them.
If they're Klingons, we nuke 'em.

we are the aliens on this planet

It's unlikely an alien would risk landing on Earth. They would surely fear attack. They would first make contact from a far. Therefore alien sightings are misguided.

Think Stephen hawkin said once we should not hope to be contacted by aliens since he believes their agenda would be hostile

would they have any unpleasant habits?

what if their anuses were located squarely in the centre of their necks?

you could be chatting away with them, and then the next thing you know their eyes go all squinty and their little grey faces become flushed and a long turd is forced out from the centre of their necks and falls on the dinner table right in front of you.

this would be most unpleasant and could lead to strained relationships.

If we got first contact then we would be invited to join the federation which would be cool.

they would be kinda similer to us i guess. seen it on a doc few years ago.

2 legs as its easiest to walk on (see evolution)

    ditto for digits on hands.

eyes would be roughly the same too, maybe bigger maybe smaller depending on home world conditions
Some of the most intelligent species on this planet include dolphins, crows and octopus so you can pretty much ignore any of that anthropomorphic discovery channel edutainment.

Even if their body chemistry was very similar to ours they might have DNA/ Proteins with a "left hand thread" meaning that lots of things would be mutually indigestible / toxic. Trace elements like boron and selenium determine where some species can and can't live on this planet. For an ET from a planet with lower concentrations of some of these everything here would be toxic especially if they haven't evolved to eliminate aluminium, it would be like us landing on a planet with lots (parts per billion) of beryllium or heavy metals. At present our planet, including the solar wind and fallout, may be too radioactive for them to risk exposure here.

If we are realistic looking at things, if they are of such a high intelligence to actually get here with their far higher technology, they will of course done their homework prior to landing and know what conditions they are entering in regards atmosphere and possible living residents of Earth.
No doubt they will have been listening/watching for some time so the only shocks will really be ours, not theirs mostly.

If aliens do exist and can travel here we have nothing they would want. All sci-fi films that show aliens coming to earth for water and gold is nonsense as that stuff is floating around space and much easier to access than trying to take it off a large object like a planet.

I think it's likely they are out there studying us and have absolutely no intention of ever talking to us as it would ruin their research into primitive intelligent species.

The likely hood is they would be thousands, if not millions of years ahead of us and would have to have solved many mortal problems to get as far as us. There will be no invasions at the very least.

Aliens wont come here. If you were able to look at earth as someone who has never been or lived here and seen the hate, war, stupidness that go on here on a daily basis, would you visit this place?

The only reason they will come is to destroy us for wasting a planet.

I was ment to fit a rant about religion in there too but ive gotten in trouble for that before.

Violence among humans is rare, if you where looking from the outside (and mostly ignoring our sensational press) it would look very peaceful on this planet. Of course you could see the rest of the animals killing each other and think it's awful if you have no concept of the natural process.

IF (and thats a BIG if) they do come and make themselves known, I suspect it will be one of few reasons.

    1. To take over the Earth totally as a place to live - even temp-wise as a stepping stone along a long path journey.

    2. Pure deeper curiosity beyond just what their technology is telling them.

    3. To slap us around the head and tell us to kop ourselves on!

I would be waiting for the first Alien Human "relationship"

    In the Running

    Jordan 5/1

    Kim Kardashian 3/2

    Georgia Salpa 20/1

If they could travel here they would need a pretty amazing spaceship that would need to be able to provide everything they need indefinitely. They wouldn't need to land here, maybe they'd want to but again they would have no need and may well be able to produce an artificial world that's indistinguishable from the real thing. Landing here would stop them from watching our progress which I'm guessing would be more valuable to such an intelligent species.

    True - good points too.

As someone once said, the proof that there is intelligent life out there is the fact that they haven't bothered contacting us

Peaceful aliens would avoid us. We are aggressive, paranoid, violent, divided & unpredictable. Not to mention the many primitive religious practices that are used to validate the most horrific acts against those who are 'different'.

Hostile aliens...well...we probably wouldn't even see them. It's likely that they would have technology to annihilate us from orbit. Or they could release a virus to wipe just us out, leaving everything else intact.

Basically, if there are aliens out there with the technology to visit us, then we should hope that we never make contact. If history teaches us anything it's that when advanced and primitive cultures meet, it doesn't go so well for the primitive culture.

That's not even remotely true. Comparing humans that live in colonies of millions there is very little violence when you compare them to just about every other animal on the planet. If what your saying was true we wouldn't have the modern world that we have around us. It takes huge feats of cooperation to achieve what we have, the notion that in general humans are violent and unpredictable is just nonsense that people love to tell each other while rarely ever experiencing it. Humans are also very, very predictable.

If the prime directive meant anything Wesley would have been buried in the flower bed.

And Janeway was too busy sacrificing sentient species to the Borg to have time to think about it.

I don't think any intelligent specie exist apart from us. Although the universe is big, and the famous Drake equation predicts it. I think it is wrong. He made a presumption that evolution is a forward process that builds towards intelligence, intelligence capable of culture. Off course it doesn't. The universe is 14 billion years old, the Earth 5 billion years old. There was life on Earth pretty much from its on-set. To spite the ideal conditions on this rather stable planet Intelligence capable of culture only happened once, and in the time scale of earth only 75ooo years ago.

Also it has to be said most the universe is very hot as in highly radioactive although life could evolve a solution to that problem, it would be life very different from what is here.

Life was only on the planet for the last billion or so years as far as we know, and the earth is neither stable nor ideal, life has almost been entirely wiped out completely numerous times.

Even more recently look what happened to the what were they called, I want to say boob-people, Minoans thats them, all's going well already have womens lib since the bras were clearly not in evidence and boom, a great big volcano blows your civilisation to splinters.

Back in the bark canoes and back to square one.

My guess is we haven't seen alien life for reasons more complicated than we can imagine right now, I mean there could reasonably have been previous sentient species on earth and we wouldn't know it, all trace would be long gone form even a couple of million years ago.

However, we could well be in the midst of a thriving collection of massive alien civilisations who wouldn't be aware of us since they haven't got an outpost in every dreary backwater solar system, I mean why would they, whats the benefit, and even in the unlikely event that they did hear our radio signals, which they won't past the nearest star or thereabouts, it might take them millennia to get here.

Mind you if the FTL neutrino deal ever kicks off and some bright spark gets the idea of tuning the output to a pair of speakers, we could be in for a surprise! :D

    :D

You are talking higher multicellular complex life I am talking about life any type, its nearly as old as the planet. And the Earth was never sterilised of life even during the time it was completely covered in ice (Snowball Earth), life still clung on.
