Im in my new job about 6 months and cant believe we didnt even get a box of chocs between us or even a Christmas card from management!!!!

Im not even talking about a bonus just a bit of goodwill as it costs nothing!! Even the staff there 15 years said they have never even received a card to put up on the notice board!!!

Last year i went to the work christmas party and got a card with £20 inside, the taxi home from the party cost me £25. I gave the christmas party a miss this year.

I got 1% of my 6 months wage for a bonus, also get the same in the summer

a lot of times your not eligible for a bonus unless your working there for over a year i think

We get roughly a week and a half's wages in store vouchers (so eventually they will break even when it all goes back in to the store). Handy as it's not just clothes and homewares- food, drink, credit also.

Work for a MNC so understandably enough they don't give out bonuses based on religious days.

I didn't even get paid properly for what I worked let alone a bonus.

Work in the dreaded PS so no bonus here - wouldn't expect one to be honest. In my first job out of college I got a £200 shopping voucher (yes, pounds, that's how old I am) that first Christmas, it was all downhill from there.

I totally understand being there a certain length of time before getting a bonus but not even a card!!!!

Its a catering company that employs people all over the country surely the management could have sent a card to each unit!!!!! Saying thanks guys for the hard work, happy Christmas!

Is it really too much to ask for, a bit of goodwill, are those days gone?

I got paid for a days work on Christmas Day, we were closed. I suspect that might be some sort of law though and not a bonus at all.

Legally I'm not allowed answer this question.

But I am allowed say that my boss is a stingy b*stard so you can take my answer from that.

I had two jobs for the christmas

penneys gave us free christmas dinner with free non-alcoholic drink and a box of quality street for everyone.

(think pizza was involved somewhere on christmas eve but i had left)

    my current job.

tin's of roses going around everyday for the last week along with a christmas party at the dogs !

on a side note for anyone who does work.

you get paid for christmas day !

Didn't get a bonus and didn't expect one. Figures are down in my workplace because of the economy, so a bonus wasn't earned.

My last job, we got :
    Christmas party in big hotel
    Dinner and drinks
room for the night with B&B
    €200

    My current job :
Nothing, not even a free cup of tea

    I didn't give my employeer a bonus.
My employeer didn't give me a bonus.

I think it's pretty fair. I'm not really sure why anyone expects a bonus. I don't see any difference between being paid 98% of your salary and a 2% bonus for Christmas verse being paid 100% of your salary throughout the year.

Honestly, I guess I'm just a scrogge; but I'd rather the company skip the Christmas party too - and just pay us that much more. I've known companies that do the big hotel parties or dinner outs and spend something like 100 euro per person. I'd rather have 100 euro in my pocket than go to a company Christmas Party.

We get our bonus in the summer as our year end is in June and would have a summer and Christmas party. I would take my team out for a night at Christmas out of my own pocket just to say thanks for their work during the year.

Chocolates and crap in the office. Job paid for 2 Christmas parties. Also got paid triple time for working Christmas day and stephans day though I'd rather the days off.

Use to worked in a supermarket and every Christmas I'd be given 300€ in vouchers for the shop - Pretty nice that.

Thats pretty much the same situation for 90% of companies in Ireland these days.

    No suprise to be honest.
